"These uncertainties about energy supply are dragging our economy," - Bush
translation required - yes higher oil prices hurt the US economy.

BUT ..... the US knew about this issue aided by geologists for over 30 years and did NOTHING...repeat NOTHING.

Now we have an immense "oil dependent economy" which uses 25% of all world oil production and will get an extreme wake-up call in the very near future.

WMD's and democracy are nothing but "trojan horse's" to establish a "military oil police presence" so that the oil slide can be muted.

that is all...we can all go back to judge shootings and car chases

1. "strategic reserves and strategic arms"
Strategic reserves to buffer the oil market during wars and strategic arms to establish dominance in the Middle East. That was the energy policy that Reagan/Bush came up with twenty four years ago. It is time to bring back alternative energy development and energy efficiency and conservation policies.

4. there would be "civil unrest" when the US citizens understand that the US
govt did nothing in the way of alternative energy plans and now we are in for difficult days when the peak and decline are realized.

Actually, Bush's economic policies are dragging the economy & making sure we'll never have a recovery from the 2nd Great Depression while he's in office.

6. We did nothing because we had families in high places that made their
money on oil (Rockefeller and bush**) just to name a couple. Research Standard Oil and the Rockefellers, get a good education regarding corruption and greed.

We also had to prop up a lot of oil producing countries. If we would have seriously tried to develop an alternative fuel source, and actually done it, where would these countries be? Of course the American people, actually all people except certain rulers and elites in this country, would be WAY BETTER OFF. Economically, environmentally, and we'd have the security of having weaned ourselves off oil and found another source of energy.

8. That's assuming EACH president would
tell the truth or in Bush's case...even comprehend the question (let alone be able to answer it coherently)!

We need your help right now to stop oil drilling in the Arctic Wildlife Refuge before it's too late!

President Bush and his pro-drilling allies in Congress are using a sneaky backdoor trick to pass their controversial proposal to drill for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge by inserting it in the must-pass federal budget bill. But Sen. Maria Cantwell from Washington State has proposed an amendment to strip Arctic drilling language from the federal budget.

Then call their offices at 1-888-894-5325 to reinforce your message.
Using the budget to open the Arctic Refuge is a sneaky backdoor trick to avoid democratic debate on this critical issue. Senator Cantwell's amendment will prevent such budget trickery.

There is no time to waste; a vote on the Senate floor will take place as early as TODAY. It's very important that your Senators hear from as many constituents as possible.

A lot is riding on this decision. This incomparable wilderness is home to more than 250 animal species, including wolves, grizzlies, caribou, and millions of migrating birds. Unfortunately, it is also the target of an intense, relentless lobbying campaign by the oil industry.

We need you to help make some noise! If we can draw enough attention to this issue, we can stop oil industry allies in Congress from getting away with this attempt to slip Arctic drilling into the budget bill.

Betsy Loyless and the LCV Policy Team
