Poll question: Kerry vs. Clinton in 2008 Presidential Election - Who would you choose? |
|
I'm a little sour towards almost every Dem Senator, but I like Sen. Clinton as a person, so I would choose her.

with all of his cozying up to the Bushes. I understand that he may be looking at Bush Sr as the father he never had, but good hot damn, don't we have any Democratic old men he could look up to instead?
Everytime I see him laughing and grinning with them and telling us how much he really likes them, I feel like he is spitting in my face after all the filth they threw at him during the impeachment. I have blanked Bill out of my mind now.
I feel the same about Bill and Hillary now as I do about Lieberman...persona non gratas...I can no longer ever support either of them again.
Kerry lost in 2004 because he would not fight back hard enough, for whatever reason. I will not give him the same opportunity again.

media echo of the Swift Boat ads, let alone the ads themselves, caused his campaign. Add to that the Osama bin Laden wideotape, released right before the election, did not help Kerry; anyone with a brain knows bin Laden was salivating for Dubya to remain in office.
Of course, count me in the faction of those who believe that the results may have been manipulated in crucial battleground states of Ohio and Florida, to name the most obvious states, through software programs buried in the central tabulatiing computer programs.
When even Bush was told by Karen Hughes in the early evening that he was losing, something is definitely rotten. Whether we will ever be able to get to the bottom of it without a whistleblower coming forward, though, is doubtful.
That said, does anyone think these folks would not hesitate to manipulate the election results to return this corrupt administration to the White House. I'm with Teresa on questioning these "mother" computers.

Kerry "slaughtered" bush in the debates, but came out of them looking like a long winded, "Liberal Elite" Yankee. Bushamerica wants somebody to "sit down and have a beer with, or change their flat tire".... I don't get it either, but Kerry wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell running again. He's tainted goods now. We'll need a fresh face, and I don't believe it will be Hill either.

14. I'd vote for Kerry merely because of my dislike for political legacies |
|
Edited on Tue Mar-15-05 07:42 AM by ProgressiveConn
where Bush rides his father's career and Clinton rides her husbands. Regardless of how qualified she may be it is pretty obvious that she would not be a Senator or Presidential candidate had she not married Bill. Further I dislike both candidate as they are both DLCers. I want corporatism from my Republicans and economic populism from my Democrats.
By giving control up to the NDOLers we eliminate all voice that the people have left. That Labor is right, we have forgotten them. That the age of the New Deal and the Great Society is over. That America is a capital based oligarchy more than a democracy.
So in reality I'd probably vote Green if they had a shot at reaching a public funding level or if presented with a socially liberal anti-imperialism corporatist republican I'd probably rather vote for a corporate Republican over a corporate Democrat if all other political aspects were equal merely as a means of protecting the Democratic party from losing its populist appeal.

He'd really have to stand out nationally to be a viable candidate, which isn't easy in the first fiew years in the Senate.
However, what if Rice should run? (Yes, I know she said she's not interested, but I never believe such declarations this far ahead of an election). Out of concern for losing the black vote, I wonder if they'd at least run him for VP.

They can take their free-trade brand of liberalism to someone else's doorstep because I won't support that. I want someone who is not afraid to stand up for workers in the country. If free trade must come, then the only way it'll come is if it is fair trade with protections on human rights/labor standards as well as environmental protections, which trade agreements like NAFTA lack and the WTO condemns as impeding the efficiency of trade.

Kerry isn't worth the trouble to work for and Hill is too dang polarizing...and voting like a republican of late.
Very tired of the media pushing our candidates...and that's all this speculation on Hillary is right now. We follow the media trail of bread crumbs we get the Rovian pick for Dem nominee.
Time to tell the media to suck rotten eggs IMHO.

For one thing, they won't face each other in the general election, unless one of them converts to the Dark Side, otherwise known as the Republican Party.
Hillary is far too divisive a figure, and I think she knows that.
Kerry lost my vote forever when he refused to fight for having every vote counted. In a nutshell, he betrayed us. We need to turn away from the tired old business as usual Democrats and look for new people with fresh ideas. I would support Howard Dean in a heartbeat, but I doubt he'll be running.
As for Obama, I want to see more of what he's like, what kind of a Democrat and potential leader he really is. Plus, I believe he's quite young at this point, so give him a few more years.
And most of all, it's about three years too early to be worrying about these kinds of things.

After seeing the awful health care plan she came up with, I would still consider this a negative when comparing her to another Democrat. Kerry's plan was far preferable.
Of course some of this might be the fact that Kerry saw the response to Hillary Care before coming up with his plan, so he knew better. Still, it was Hillary who came up with the plan.
I don't know if this is a fair comparison as Hillary is not Bill, but there is another difference which came out during the 2004 election. Bill Clinton advised Kerry to support the anti-gay marriage ammendments in the states which were having them. Kerry would not go along with the idea, showing a greater commitment to principle. I wonder what Hillary would have done.

Since it goes without saying that Hillary would run as a DLC'er, she'd triple or quadruple the Green or Nader vote, thus dooming us to another Republican.

go waste your own vote. I wont waste mine. I don't want a Repug prez, which is WHY I wont vote for either. Neither will win the general election in '08.
Best to stop them from winning the primary in the first place than lose another election.
Have I happened to mention how utterly disgusted I am in all these threads about '08 when people should be focusing on the MUCH MORE important issue of the '06 elections. Or do you not care if we have control of congresss either?
