KOS Indicates We Will WIN On ANWR - and Stevens Will Then Quit!
A diary tallying votes indicated there was a 50-50 split on the amendment until a few minutes ago, when there was a report that Salazar from CO will vote to make sure there is NO drilling in ANWR. If true, the amendment will work in our favor (and I'm a little confused on whether a YES vote on the amendment means no drilling in ANWR, although I think that's right).

KOS also reports on a story that says if Stevens doesn't get to vote his way he'll take his Hulk tie and go home - presumably to take a hand drill into his backyard and weep at all that could have been, I suppose.

Keep up the pressure -- it looks like another win coming our way!

1. A yes vote is against drilling in ANWR. Salazar vote was crucial?

I thought we were down to Akaka and Landrieu. I hope Kos is right!

This is old news on Kos, I think. Stevens is saying this morning that he thinks he has the votes to pass it. I pray he does not!

7. Thanks for the update. Daily Kos is still not working for me but
ever since he had the front page post saying that Franken was going to run in 2006 for the Senate, I take his scoops with a grain of salt.

Boxer said in her speech that "even if we lose" which made me think we didn't have the votes to stop it but hopefully she just didn't know about Salazar's decision yet.

9. Wonderful!!!
Thanks. If this is true, it's great news. Not only for ANWAR, but for the forces of light.

I hope Stevens does quit. He appears to have abandoned rational thought.

11. Salazar said yesterday he would vote for the amendment.
50-50 is not enough, they need another vote for the amendment in order for the drilling not to happen.

13. They just added Snowe
as a co-sponsor. Don't know if that makes a big difference, but it can't be bad.
