I got a call from the DNC yesterday
her: "We've been getting great response since Howard Dean took over and this is our fund-raising drive blah, blah, blah"

Me: "well I donated to Howard Dean's presidential campaign and then John Kerry's. I would like to help you out but since the senate democrats just folded on bankruptcy and ANWR I'm afraid I can't today. I want you to write that down."

her: "yes I'm mad about that too".

1. I got one from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
I cited the ANWR vote, and before I knew it, I was off on a five minute rant about government by and for corporate greedheads and the lack of party discipline that didn't keep idiots like the ANWR from straying on an important vote. I calmed down, apologized to the caller (who was nervously agreeing with what I'm sure he thought was some lunatic), thanked him for his volunteering on behalf of the Democrats, and asked him to call back in three months.

2. Good for You! That's what they will hear from me, plus the Dems whose

votes caused the Snowe-Wyden amendment to fail which would have given Medicare the authority to negotiate with pharmaceutical companies to buy drugs in bulk--just like the VA does.

It is we taxpayers will be paying for these egregious profits to the drug companies--which cost has now risen from what was projected in the bill--around $450 billion to perhaps as much as $750 to $1.2 trillion the first decade!

We are being sold out, Americans!

3. I gave to DNC but won't give to DSCC or DCCC.
I think Dean is on the right track and I wanted to show support for him but the congressional committees - forget it. Why give them $$$ when like a quarter to a third of the caucus votes with Bush? Fuck that.

4. If you withhold support from the DNC, the grassroots will not have a voice
Dean will fail as chairman, and thus it will look like the grassroots is failing. I think you should try to better pinpoint the problem. Dean as chair was sort of a victory for our voice, but it won't be if you put the blame on him as chair for everyone's votes.

We did not donate for a couple of years...only to DFA. Now we decided that if funding is to change enough to give us a voice we have to donate to the DNC.

6. Where was Dean
Before the bankruptcy and ANWR votes? If he was speaking out against them, it wasn't very loud.

7. The grass roots don't have a voice. They have shut Howard up
I will only donate directly to real Dem's. If Howard wants money for the DNC He'll have to set up a direct donation to candidates. I think that would be best and it would allow the Dem's to donate to real Dem's and let the corp whores dangle in the wind.

8. That just gives the party to the "corp whores", as you put it.
We get a voice, and we give it away. Al and Bruce say thanks.
