Ever ask a Bush supporter what the word "fascist" means?
And ask them further if they support fascism as a form of government?

Interesting to me is that so many have no idea what it means. The word "corporatism" seems easier for them to grasp.

They do acknowledge that Bush's policies favor corporations over workers and consumers. It kind of gives them a shudder to realize that "corporatism" and "fascism" are essentially the same thing.

I wonder if the talented wordsmiths here can come up with a powerful explanation that would be of further help to those of us with lesser skills, but, who really want help inform the average citizen unaware of the rising fascism.

2. They use "fascism" or "fascist" as a generic pejorative
They call liberals "fascists" when they feel threatened, without realizing that they're misusing the word. It reveals the fact that they don't know what they're talking about.

7. That was my observation, too. They don't see the coming fascism
because they don't even understand the term.

They can see corporatism, but, have not yet related it to their everyday lives it seems.

3. Fasces is symbol of power...

in ancient Rome and a fasces is on US mercury dime..
Mussolini was first a Marxist..

"Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power"
Benito Mussolini quotes (Italian dictator, 1883-1945)

If the corporations really do own these pols then the USA is a fascist state..

5. Really confuse them. Ask them about USMC Gen Smedley Butler and
his role in preventing Bush's relatives from a 'Seven Days in May' military coup that tried to oust FDR in the '30's.

9. They actually believe that Fascism is leftist
and akin to Communism, and bolster their argument by saying that Hitler's party had the word "Socialist" in its title.

10. blm, there are people HERE who don't recognize b**sh's fascism.
If long-term DUers are too far into denial to see the fascism in our government, I have little hope that less-educated people will see it.

11. I've had this argument
They honestly(?) think Hitler was a leftist liberal. Why? the Nazis were "National Socialists". Kind of like the leaders of the "Republic of China" must be "Republicans"

12. Ask them if they know what the PNAC is
You will be met with a resounding "no" and a confused look on their face.

They're clueless. You have to be either clueless, evil or morally bankrupt to buy into this nonsense.

13. They know exactly what it means. They try hard to mess the meaning
up in our minds. They want fascism to be a Liberal thing. They want to be able to use Hitler's tools or patriotism to their own ends. They endless try and argue that far right extremists are not totalitarians and that corporations can never be bad.

It seems the source is Leo Struass & his ilk who all admired Hitler. They also admired Disraeli who said the only way for conservatives to get elected is to get the masses to vote of patriotism (that way you own them nothing and they will fight your wars). They needed something to go up against liberalism (fair distribution of wealth in an economy and regulations to keep the system free of elite monopolies and to deliver public goods).

So they have to change the meme in our minds. I call them on their pathetic attempts to rewrite 20th century history (and the holocaust of all things). They desperately want it to be Woodrow Wilson and the "shame" he caused the Germans to be the real heart of the holocaust..as opposed to a sociopath named Hitler & his cabal.

This is all so that they can teach patriotism to get votes (and not have to deliver anything). Patriots like all tribalism teaches people how not to empathize with all humans and only within a group of people who are exactly like you. Like all tribalism it is a tool of the elites so they can rule from the top and keep the masses busy fighting amongst themselves..or attacking others. Tribalism is the opposite of democracy.

Where neocons want tribalism to stop (Arab world) they now want there to be democracy. Where they want democracy to stop (USA) they promote & create tribalism.

The word fascist just comes from Roman (or greek I cannot remember) and it means 'tight bundle of wood'. The tight bundle of wood the WH & the neocons do not want you to have in your mind.. are all the comparisons one can make to Karl Rove's machinations, the neocons plans and elitism and Bush's dumb ass-puppet (patsy). They don't want us to have a map or historical context.

Another thing the neocons hate: the enlightenment.. because apparently only their fine minds should have access to the good information. All the rest of us are supposed to be dumb as planks so we are easier to rule.

Terribly frustrating for them. But be sure to call any freeper or Bush boy on it when they try and dance you outside of your own knowledge base and 'change your thinking'. That is what sociopaths and their little army of patsy minions do: break your life and your spirit by winning while they diminish your life.
