I went to a luncheon with Newt Gingrich today!
Edited on Wed Apr-06-05 11:31 PM by saracat
It was a symposium on Heath care. I won't bore anyone with the details but suffice it to say I didn't agree. But I do want to say that A neurologist nailed Newt on the Schiavo issue, and Newy made an ass out of himself by retaliating that Michael Schiavo had a "common law" wife and therefore was "morally" unsuitable to make this decision. I had to be held back. The man who was screwing his intern and divorced his wife as she lay dying of cancer in the hospital, is judging Shiavo?
The neurologist said that they had no right to throw out all the medical evidence to reach an "emotional " conclusion. Newt said he wasn't a neurologist and couldn't know . The neurologist replied "thats right and that is why you shouldn't decide".
And BTW, Edwards speech the night before made Newt look like an imbecile!

12. Well, he is on his third wife
...and she was 'doing the Monica' with him whilst he was excoriating Clinton. Wife #2 took him to the CLEANERS...her lawyers pressed for massive, guaranteed cash in exchange for Calista (#3) not having to describe, in specific, excruciating detail, the acts that she and Newt committed (many in his House office--what's that crap on the copier????). Had he not agreed, that testimony would have made Monica's little efforts seem tame by comparison.

Ironically, Newt's STAFF had a hand in busting him. They liked #2, she was very sweet to them, baked cookies, worried about their health. They did not care for Calista, who wore her paramour's rank and didn't work or play well with others in the office. And they were "true believers" in the creepy Conservative cause, and the hypocrisy bothered them--so they ratted the boy out, some of them!

21. You think the Repubs in the audience noticed the STARK contrast in the
decency and intellectual bearing of Edwards and the meanspirited sharpness of Gingrich?

He really gave me a reason to hate him. I know now I was right, and I feel good about it! It was fascinating to watch someone lie, completely without conscience , right to your face. And to know that he knows it. Gag!

9. He also divorced #2 when he found out she had MS. Then
married #3. Sought an annulment from the Catholic Church for #2 and got it.

13. Number Two divorced him, see my post above
You may be thinking of Number One--he served her with divorce papers while she was hooked up for chemotherapy for cancer.

This time, his approach was less personal. Marianne Gingrich told the Washington Post that she was informed of the affair and the request for a divorce last May in a telephone call from Newt to her mother's home, where she was visiting.

After first expressing best wishes to his mother-in-law on her 84th birthday, he asked to speak to his wife, who was soon reduced to tears by Newt's news.

"I said, 'Marianne, what's wrong?' " Gingrich's mother-in-law told the Washington Post, and she said her daughter replied, "He doesn't want me as his wife anymore." According to the Post: "There was a second jolt soon afterward. Newt Gingrich, now 56, informed his wife that he was having an affair with a congressional aide, a woman 23 years his junior."

<snip>

Only she was smarter. She rushed to court first.

17. Wow, fascinating backstory!
Of course, #2 did have the experience of being the "Calista" to #1. Perhaps because of that, she got the best damn legal team on it for a preemptive strike!

19. When I heard that he was thinking about running for Prez, I started
researching him in detail, from the blow jobs he got at his kid's sports mets to the money Murdock paid him for his "book." Pure poison this guy is.

10. Take two showers when you get home
Newt's oiliness contaminates the entire room. I hear after shaking hands with him it can take several months to finally wash clean.

"Newt said he wasn't a neurologist and couldn't know."

Yeah, and he's not an historian, he's not an economist, he's not a health care expert, he's not a technology expert...

I thought the public booed Newt off the stage years ago. Why in the world does the MSM give him credibility ?

11. Newt has eaten many times at a 4 star restaurant my daughter
worked in, in Alexandria, Va. She was a hostess. The waiters would come rushing up and say Don't you DARE place him at MY table...because he didn't tip enough to make it worth the effort.

14. How does anyone eat with Gingrich in the room?
Did he start dragging out his old tired "Contract with America" bullshit?

Thats OK though, when Dole ran against Clinton all Dems had to do was paint Dole and Gingrich as good buddies, which they were and thats all it took.

20. after being dumped, wife #1 had to ask their church for help
paying bills. apparently, he rarely ever paid his child support. wife #1 was also his high school math teacher.

the fact that he is even a public figure amazes me. most people would be too ashamed, given the level of his hypocrisy.

sounds like he needs a pie in the face.
