"Is Howard Dean pulling Democratic Party too far to the left ?"
This was a question asked on the "Fair and Balanced" FOX News just a few minutes ago. In the background, they had the video of Dean, with Harkin standing behind him, doing his rebel yell, but without the sound. :) These people are such frauds! When will they ask if George Bush has pulled the Republicans too far to the right? Or if the radicals in the Congress are so far to the right, they have disappeared into the darkness?

4. FOX will always be FOX
As for Dean, I hope he takes us more to the left. That way, the repukes will have to come back to the middle.

23. And you think they don't know that? The "fact checkers" at Fox (and I use
the term very loosely in their case) surely know Dean's record as governor was moderate. That scares them. That's why they're trying to tear him down.

:patriot:
Hmm--well, I am left-handed...

I think the real problem is that the right-wing religious zealots have taken the publicans too far to the right!

Well, the pope's funeral is over, and Faux certainly doesn't want to go near the DeLay or Martinez messes. So it's back to bashing Dems!

7. I saw Dean on CSPAN the other day
And someone asked the question of whether the Left should try and reclaim the word "liberal" or move to "progressive." His answer was that we should reclaim the word "Democrats." I thought, this guy is the right guy to be leading this party out of the wilderness.

8. "Some people say Jesus Christ himself appointed George W. Bush
to the Presidency. What's your response to that, Vice President Cheney?"

Whenever I teach freshmen English here at our local U, I always show them "Outfoxed." It's the perfect Faux News antidote--works like a charm. We're up here in Wisconsin, changing America for the better twenty college freshmen at a time.

17. I find Horowitz et al singularly un-scary,
and I welcome the views of conservative students in my Bonehead English classes. It's my great pleasure to decontaminate them. I mean really--it's so easy. Bush has given us so much ammunition.

19. You underestimate what is at work here...........
this goes well beyone Horowitz or anyone mouthpiece/thinker. This is a strategic movement that will last years if not decades. Certainly you shouldn't be scared, but prepare to be, at least symbolically, a lightning rod.

24. It's nothing new.
It's the logical extension, in a way, of the right-wing anti-intellectualism that's been an unfortunate part of the landscape since the so-called Great Awakening and the dawn of the evangelical Christian movement two hundred years ago. In the immortal words of Our Great Leader, bring 'em on.

27. No matter what Dean does Fox will say he is pulling Democrats to the Left
They have their script already written. It's like how newspapers pre write the obituaries of important people and keep them on file. Doesn't matter that the person is still alive. Fox reports it's own projections.

33. I wish it was only Faux News
But how many time have we seen that sentiment here expressed by supposed "Democrats"?

We must be making headway, for Faux to take after Howard like this.
The fact that HE is the centrist seems to threaten a lot of poeple, who have thus far lostus a LOT of ground by running their rightwing tack as centrism.

34. I, for one, hope that that is the case,
though I suspect that if you cast what faux news thinks is far to the left on Dean, a centrist such as Dean seems to be a radical.

36. So many Polls are stupid
They are spending so much time on polls that they can't get in an original story that hasn't been force fed by the Government.

I don't give a rat's ass what the rest of Texas thinks..I know they are a bunch of followers.... What I want is all the facts... I want the media to talk about votes in COngress I want it on the forefront on the boob tube so the uneducated masses can finally be exposed to the truth not just what other people who aren't educated are thinking....

37. Howard Dean is a Centrist pulling the party to the CENTER.
It's time those yahoos got their terminology and political demarcations STRAIGHT.

Howard Dean, a centrist, is pulling this party to the CENTER, BUT because the party is in such a sorry-assed state, he has to pull it to the Left to get anywhere near the center.

Too far to the left indeed. My oh my.

The center is now "too far to the left"? Lol.

Yeats was SO effing right...

    Things fall apart; the center cannot hold;

Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,

The blood dimm'd tide is loosed, and everywhere

    The ceremony of innocence is drowned;

The best lack all conviction, while the worst

    Are full of passionate intensity.

38. I don't think Howard Dean is pulling the party anywhere
I think he's doing what people who supported him wanted him to do.

He's rebuilding the party by traveling to red states, raising money for them, trying to organize on the local level, & most importantly, as he says, "He's showing up."

I was very happy to see his visits to Arkansas & West Virginia, 2 states that should be Dem, but I believe have been ignored.

Dems need to compete in these states, & not just written off, as in the past.

Will Mississippi vite Dem anytime soon? No, but it's a long road that begins with a single step.
