Barbara Boxer
Not that I am against it, but does anyone think that Barbara Boxer is positioning herself to run for President. This year she has made strong stances and really come out against the Bush Administration. I think she may have done some of these things before, but does it seem like she is positioning herself to run for President.

1. If she runs, she'll get my vote!
She's one of the few who hears the voice of the people!

3. I hope she does.... but I don't think she is....
positioning herself anyway. She is a progressive, and her constituents are progressive ( I being one). She is representing her constituents!

I LOVE my SENATOR !!!!

4. It's possible. I've liked her overall forever, but lately --
-- she has been just terrific.

If she somehow gets the nomination, she definitely gets my vote.

6. I think she has positioned herself to be a patriot...
and probably hasn't given a thought to the presidency given the large egos who line up for the job. Wonder if lately though it hasn't been brought to her attention?

8. I think maybe she is the new Paul Wellstone. They are letting her
speak out to please the more left of the party to keep us interested and she it truely a leftie so there is no problem for her to represent the left of the party.

11. Also she CAN safely speak out
she got the third highest number of votes in the country last time, yes? (Or at least of the reported votes...)

She's safe in her seat, from the big state with lots of guaranteed attention... she's in a perfect place to speak out and represent a liberal position. I wouldn't be surprised if this is all somewhat choreographed with Reid. And that's good!

she leaves the gun legislation alone and works to enforce existing laws. We don't need another AWB to lose the vote for us.

14. She condemned testing pesticides on children
Who else spoke out against this proposed EPA study, that was defended by the repugs, after all their minority parents would be
compensated for participating, they were even going to give them a camcorder. The children that would have been in the study were 1 year old toddlers. (Heard on Stephanie Miller show 4/8/05)

16. Don't let's worry ourselves about that yet!!
There's other business on the agenda right now! Barbara needs us
for more immediate concerns! This is an email we received today from
her:

Dear Mr. and Mrs. 'Patchuli'

Thanks so much for your continued support of PAC for a Change, and for joining with me to fight for the issues we care about so much.

This week, the Senate is back in session after the Easter recess. With Congress returning to debate some of these issues, I wanted to give you an update on two key online advocacy campaigns we have underway and ask for your help.

(1) Election Reform -- Urge support of the Count Every Vote Act

More than 15,000 people have already emailed their Senators and Members of Congress, urging support of the Count Every Vote Act authored by Senator Hillary Clinton and me.

We must restore the confidence of the American people in our federal elections system -- and this legislation would help to do just that.

So if you haven't already, I encourage you to sign my petition http://www.pacforachange.com/ to your elected representatives, urging them to support the Count Every Vote Act. And then invite your friends and family to do the same.

(2) ANWR boycott -- Tell the oil companies to stay out of the Alaskan wilderness

More than 25,000 Americans have already joined with me, appealing to the 5 largest oil companies to stay out of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge -- even as President Bush and the right-wing Republicans seek to open it up.

Please stand with me and email these oil company CEOs now. Tell them to stay out of the Alaskan wilderness. And ask everybody you know to join us. http://www.pacforachange.com/

Thanks so much for your continued support! I look forward to fighting alongside you on these important issues and many more in the weeks and months ahead.

In Friendship,

Barbara Boxer

17. I think she just has political courage that is uncommon these days.
Democrats ought to follow her example not because it plays well with the base but because with more people like her the Democratic Party might stand for something again.

19. It is not enough to be against the Bush administration
as we have seen too well just recently.

She will have to build a strong platform saying what she is standing for, not just against.

And, being a woman and a Jew and a relative unknown outside of California - she is going to face many hidden hurdles.

And, as with Kerry, the pugs will have reams of archive videos of her at the Senate floor to pick and choose and to "flip flop" etc.

This is why the common wisdom is that a successful candidate is the one coming from executive position - a governor or a CEO or a general. Any archive videos will be of signing executive orders, laws, agreements, etc.

(Interesting that on the West Wing, both candidates are coming from Congress)

20. I believe she's a true BLUE Dem who knows this country and Constitution
are backed against the Repug wall...and there's not a second to lose. I truly believe her FIRST priority is serving her Constituents (and that includes ALL of We the People). The stances she's taken on several issues including Election Fraud, and standing up against the EPA recently are HIGHLY controversial. If supporting them meant a "ticket" to the Presidency, then Hillary or Obama or other Dems with their "eyes on the Prize" would've rushed to stand out on those controversial "limbs" with her. Yet oddly they didn't.

I firmly believe she's doing it FIRST OF ALL because she feels she MUST...for this country and Democracy. And if the Presidency comes her way as a by-product, so-be-it.

Either way, she has MY vote. In the interim, she has my deepest respect and support in any petitions she wants me to sign.

That's my Senator! And I couldn't be prouder.

26. You are 1000% right, She deserves our support
These same republicans who were going to go nuclear over Terry Schiavo are NOW defending experimenting on children to determine the harmful effects of pesticide. What does that tell you about them. Barbara is standing up and fighting them at every turn AS THEY SHOULD be fought.
