Hey, look at the silver lining in that cloud, little pilgrim. At the rate we've seen so far, that will only mean another couple of hundred thousand dead, a buttload of wounded for life / traumatized "collateral damage" folks on top of that, a few billion in expenses...but we should be out of Iraq in time for Karl Rove to start planning his campaign for President Bill Frist in 2008 (or President Jeb Bush...the jury's still out on that one).
I'm also THRILLED (bordering on AROUSED) that Jalal Talabani has taken "the common desire of Iraqi people and American people" into consideration, too! Isn't that SUPER?
http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/04/11/iraq.main/index.htmlBAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- The newly elected president of Iraq said he expects that U.S. troops will be gone from his country within two years.
Jalal Talabani said Sunday that by then, Iraq should be able to rebuild its forces and secure the country, taking over the role being performed by some 140,000 U.S. troops.
"We are trying to build -- as soon as possible -- our military forces," he said.
"I think within two years, we can do it, and at the same time, we will remain in full consultation and coordination, cooperation with our American friends." Talabani said how long U.S. forces remain in Iraq will depend on a number of factors, including "the common desire of Iraqi people and American people."
