McClellan: Bush considers DeLay friend, looks forward to working with him
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/04/20050411-5.html

Q Have you been tracking these ethics allegations against Tom DeLay? Do you think he has some explaining to do, or as Congressman Shays says, should he step aside?

MR. McCLELLAN: I think you've heard from the President, what he has said on the matter, that Majority Leader DeLay is someone the President considers a friend, and he is someone that he has worked closely with to get things done in Washington. And the President looks forward to continuing working closely with the Majority Leader to get things done on behalf of the American people. And that's what we will continue to do. We support the work that he is doing on behalf of the American people.

1. Bush also supported Trent Lott, and then allowed him to be thrown
to the wolves when he bacame too much of a liability. The man only looks out for himself.

2. "We support the work that he is doing..."
Pretty lukewarm backing in my opinion. A real statement of support would say "We support the Majority leader, who is doing this work."

3. George seems to be...
... hooking his star to a submarine... being friends with a crook may be just fine with Dubya, but his fundie friends are going to tire of DeLay's corrosive corruption--it ain't moral enough for them. What then?

5. Right now, on AAR's "Majority Report"...
...a comment was made (which has been made frequently in the last few days) about DeLay screwing up the chances of his fellow Republicans who are up for re-election.

"Guilt by association"...

So being Bush's little buddy may be too little, too late.

4. Sure... Delay lies, cheats, and steals...all on the behalf of
the Amurkan sheeple. And that's the way the poo-resident likes it.

6. Birds of a feather flock together.
Bush couldn't very well condemn DeLay without condemning himself. Who knows? Maybe DeLay's got pictures. They deserve each other.
