Why is AAR News sounding like CNN? |
|
I heard this twice at least tonight, about the Bolton nomination. The gist was that he was being criticized by liberals because he has "strong opinions" and that we need him there, what with the oil for food scandal and such! And this was pretending to be news! From AAR no less!!

1. From what I understand, |
|
many AAR affiliates carry CNN headlines during breaks. I can only stream it from their site, so I get the national AAR news and New York advertising. Kinda cool. Oh, yeah. I hate that hypnostist crap they run. (flame on!)

2. A lot of the AAR stations carry non-AAR news breaks |
|

...and some carry CNN Radio newsbreaks. Our station (San Francisco) carries wonderfully "fair and balanced" AAR breaks (produced by the local station) during the day and CNN breaks at night and on weekends.
I think it's the Clear Channel stations that do this.

And yes, I love the guy who does the news breaks. He tells it just like it is!

..although I didn't specifically hear this, their news, as the day wears on, does seem to be more mainstream. Bill Crowley and Wayne Gilman are great though. And I thought I heard Jo Ann Allen's replacement refer to "The 'resident"!

5. I think you were hearing... |
|
... the AAR news feed, and, if so, the reason is very simple. They don't have reporters of their own. They're taking the feed off the news wires, like most everyone else, these days.
Must keep in mind--AAR is virtually entirely composed of personalities, not reporters. In those breaks for news, they're reading someone else's reports.
