It was sixty years ago today....
....On April 12, 1945, Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd president of the United States, died of a cerebral hemorrhage in Warm Springs, Ga., at age 63. Vice President Harry S Truman became president.

Now the neo-conservative history revisionists are attempting to show FDR in an evil light as they bring out so called new information about how FDR operated his administration in total secrecy keeping the American people in the dark about many of his policy decisions and actions. Duha, there was a major depression that threatened the very existence of America, a growing fascist right-wing extremist threat in America with the KKK and American Nazi parties being financed and supported by many of America's leading wealthy families and there was WWII on the horizon.

Still, this weekend the History Channel plans to air this fictionalized docudrama which it has been advertising for over two months which according to comments I have heard will discredit FDR's presidency. I can hardly wait to watch it!

1. The History Channel can air whatever it wants about FDR.
It will not change my opinion of the man in any way.

FDR was revered by everyone in my family that lived through the Depression and WWII.

The memories my grandparents and parents shared with me about those times convinced me that no matter what "revisionist historians" say about FDR, he was and will always be one of the greatest Presidents this country ever had.

3. I feel the same way as some one who began life near the end...
...of FDR's life, but I heard much praise of his work and the man from my family who loved and respected the contribution this made had made.

It is the young people of today who need to understand the lies and distortions that are being hurled at them to hide the truth about those times and to change their perceptions about what is really going on in America today. I plan to watch the broadcast. If it does distort the truth I hope that scholars and witnesses who were old enough to have remembered those FDR years will come forward and expose the inaccuracies before they become ingrained in the popular consciousness. Evil always speaks to the youth of a nation, because they have no memory of what has been before:

Excerpt from #545 Adolf Hitler Speaks to His Youth

1936 Party Day in Nuremberg

My German Youth!

You have the good fortunate to be witnesses of a tumultuous and great era. Not every generation has been able to do that. When I think back to my own time and the time of my own youth, it seems truly empty compared to what fills the present era and the present youth as well, and compared to the tasks that this era places on us and on the present youth. It is truly wonderful to live in such an era and to grow up in it and develop. You have this great joy!

You do not experience the resurrection of a state, for you have not known the old Reich. You experience the birth of a great era that you can judge through comparison with the surrounding world! How our present Germany has again become beautiful and magnificent! Your young eyes can see this as well. Today this German is splendid and wonderful in its order, in its great discipline and in its overwhelming accomplishments of work! How do we fell again that great works emerge around us that can stand next to the greatest accomplishments of our German history! All of us know it: What we create will be able to endure along side our old cathedrals, along side the palaces of our old emperors, along side our great city halls of the past.

Germany works again for a great national future, and we do not only experience it, rather all of us participate in this creation. One perhaps sees this best when as a comparison we look away at another country. Here are the results of a wonderful order that is filled with truly fresh life – there in the other country it is filled with atrocities, murder and arson, destruction and upheaval, not with life, rather with horror, desperation, pain and misery. You can measure how great the difference is between the world surrounding us and our present Germany! That this is so, however, we do not owe to a coincidence or to standing idle and waiting for a miracle. The only miracle that has given us this new national resurgence is the faith in our own people, the conviction that this thousand year old people cannot perish, that we must lift it and work on it.

We must shape the fate of our people as we wish to see and experience it!

2. Descrediting FDR. Good luck with that, asses.

It has been tried before. Repeatedly. Lots and lots. Most thinking Americans with brains (yes, even the occasional "conservative" one) still respect FDR and his legacy. Yet, the History Channel has really disappointed me here. Yes, I will watch it before passing final judgment but I think they understood what they were doing here and...shitheads.

4. There aught to be a forum/blog to debunk HC revisionist history
Equivalent to "we watch fox so you don't have to".
