Proposal for a DU Barbara Boxer Group: 10 names needed!
Please review the draft mission statement and respond if you would like to help get this group off the ground. Boxer continues to speak out as a strong progressive leader. Some see in her a spirit similar to that of the late great Paul Wellstone. In any case, Senator Boxer is recognized by many as a serious contender and a viable alternative to traditional candidates. :) We need 10 names to get our own discussion group. Thank you.
_____________________________________________________________________

The mission of the DU Barbara Boxer Supporters Group is to discuss the proposed Boxer presidential candidacy. The DU Boxer Group would be a forum for focused discussion on Boxer's "PAC for a Change" activities, exploring websites and news articles pertaining to Boxer's leadership activities, her Senate votes, public statements, appearances, speeches, and media coverage. Comments by individuals who do not support Barbara Boxer are not welcome in this group.

of like Barbara. I adopted him with the name Spike, but he was officially renamed Senator Spike Boxer in honor of the good Senator.

18. Nominating for home page
After hearing Barbara Boxer speak at the CA Democratic Convention this weekend, I was even more impressed with her than ever before. Every single person that was near me in the hall said they wished Barbara would run for president.

Barbara represents what every Democrat believes in--and she's proven herself to be above all other members of our party by being the only one to stand up for Democracy in challenging the Ohio electors. She also stood up against Condi Rice and helped force the EPA to abandon its nightmarish program to test pesticides on babies. Next she'll be challenging Bolton's nomination to the UN.

As our State Party Chair Art Torres proudly noted in his introduction of Senator Boxer, she received more votes than any other Senator in the U.S. -- and in fact, more votes than any other candidate for public office other than the Presidency.

Californians love Barbara Boxer--and we're willing to share her for the good of our country! ;-)

The standing ovation at the convention spoke for itself. There was an excitement and a thrill as palpable as an electric current that ran through the room from the moment she entered until after she left. Art Torres, remarking on this phenomenon, observed, "Who needs caffeine when we've got Barbara Boxer?"

Barbara Boxer would be a far stronger Democratic candidate than any others mentioned for '08, including Senator Clinton and Senator Kerry (assuming Howard Dean remains as DNC Chair).

Of course, my ideal ticket in '08 would be Boxer-Dean!

Put a woman in charge of cleaning up America--and let Dr. Dean fix our broken healthcare system.

:toast:

45. It only works for the first 48 hours. You could start a new
thread, though, with a link to the old thread. Say that two of us tried to nominate but saw this too late; in my case, was away at the Democratic Convention.

Maybe others will nominate it.

Trying to decide whether I'd rather continue having her as one of our strongest leaders in the Senate or run for pres in 2008!

I guess that depends a lot on who we have as our other Senator come that time and who's the governor that would appoint her replacement then too.

BTW, does anyone have a link to the site that rates congress critters on how they voted in congress so far (the one that Ms. Boxer leads so heavily in)? Her PAC is soliciting recommendations for who she should send money to to help out in 2006. I want to make sure I recommend someone who has principles!

This group is long overdue. Barbara Boxer is wonderfully presidential!

Next up, a Conyers Group. This would actually be my dream ticket--Boxer and Conyers/Conyers and Boxer. Either order would be fine, they're both my heroes.

54. A Boxer group is a great idea - she's a hero and a leader with integrity
I supported Wes Clark for 2004, and I feel iit's too early to commit to a particular ticket for 2008 - though Boxer/Conyers does sounds wonderful to fantasize about. I respect and admire Wes Clark, but Boxer needs to be in the focus too. And Rep. Conyers shines with strength and integrity - another hero. I want to follow what Sen. Boxer is doing and hear what she says and what is said about her. So I'll definitely be stopping by your new group. Congratulations and good luck!

I love her. She was my Congresswoman and then Senator for years. Although she is not my first choice for a Presidential nominee in 2008, I would love to have her as my President. That was my only hesitation about signing on, it seems the group description says members are supporting her for a 2008 run. If my first choice doesn't make it, I could happily support Boxer.
