Fundie groups threaten repukes who bail out on DeLay
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/041805dntexdelay.1fe939a3.html

When he stepped on stage Saturday night to address the National Rifle Association, members leapt to their feet to greet the House majority leader with thunderous applause. "I hope the national media saw that," Mr. DeLay said.

<snip>
Mr. Lessner said the danger is that Republican solidarity in Congress could weaken as allegations against Mr. DeLay take their toll. His group and others, including the Family Research Council and the Heritage Foundation, have met in recent weeks to craft a campaign aimed at convincing GOP members in Congress to stay loyal to Mr. DeLay – and warning of political consequences if they don't.

"The fight can only be lost if our side throws him over," Mr. Lessner said.

"Our job is to see that our guys stay firm. We will remember, come election time, who stood up and who high-tailed it toward the high grass when the shooting started."

3. So what they're really saying is ...
Little things like honesty and integrity don't matter: lies and corruption should be rewarded and supported at all costs.

You gotta love their "family" values. :eyes:

6. All that matters is guns, guns, and guns..oh, and beer.
From the same article:

At a reception Saturday night, NRA member Otis Smith of Peoria, Ariz., nursed a beer and considered the majority leader's situation.

He said he didn't know a lot about Mr. DeLay's ethical problems or the details of the lobby junkets and the payments to relatives. But he knew the majority leader is a strong advocate for gun rights – and that's good enough for him.

"He's a stand-up guy," Mr. Smith said.

11. You got it
Just look at Bush and all of his administration. He has things backwards. People who lie get promoted and people who are honest get fired. :eyes: And he's a good Christian man. Ha.

7. CARTOON: Business as usual - threats and bullying are all he knows
Edited on Sun Apr-17-05 11:08 PM by Nothing Without Hope
He is widely hated and despised, but until his power is eroded far enough that he can no longer carry through with this brutal threats, he will continue to cow them into submission. When the time comes - and I think it will - that he is no longer in such a position of power, the trickle will become a flood as the deserting sycophants leave DeLay to sink alone.

13. Yep.
They use it to the hilt. Fear and threats are Delay's middle name. He threatened a lot of the repukes during the Clinton impeachment. They don't call him the hammer for nothing.

is the WhiteHouse so interested in getting rid of him? They don't seem to be particularly concerned with Delay that the forces of justice are about do the right thing--which is quite unusual for them.

Only thing I can think of. One minute Cheney is denouncing him and the next Bush is kissing up to him. I'm confused.

the NRA and the Fundies are painting themselves into a corner where "Mr and Mrs Mainstream America will see them as the radicals they really are....

In fact, the more radical we can paint this grouop the better off we are.....

15. I love it!
The repubs are now totally captive to both their base and their bosses. They have no room at all to maneuver. They can stand up proudly in defense of sleaze, clinging to Tom DeLay's rotting political corpse in defiance of popular opinion, or they can lose their hardcore wingnut base and depend on a scant few moderates to save their seats. I wouldn't miss this showdown for anything.

...theocrats who would have government intervene in their personal choices, theocrats who are corrupt & act like thugs, theocrats who incite right-wing terrorists to violence....

Especially the ones that show any conscience or ethical backbone. Get all the most corrupt GOPs you can find in Congress. Pack the Congress with GOP thieves, thugs and idiots.

Threatening to pull the financial plug on the Repubs is exactly how DeLay got into this fine mess (Rove and Cheney didn't appreciate the resulting threat to their power base). But you fundies go right ahead and follow suit, because (if you'll pardon the expression) there are a hell of a lot more moderate Christians then there are fundamentalist ones. And between your Terri Schiavo Jesus-freak show and the encore you'll be doing next Justice Sunday, you should scare more than enough moderates back into Dem territory. So full speed ahead--GO, FUNDIES, GO! RAH RAH RAH!

22. Fundamentalism is a theology of rage, resentment and revenge.
Says Karen Armstrong in her book "The Battle for God".
They demonstrate this everyday.
