Up until last week I didn't know who Ted Nugent was. The name sounded like he was a second banana on a sitcom. I didn't know he was a singer, of some sort.
I got this off Yahoo news, apparently from his remarks at a recent concert. He said:"Remember the Alamo! Shoot 'em!" he screamed to applause. "To show you how radical I am, I want carjackers dead. I want rapists dead. I want burglars dead. I want child molesters dead. I want the bad guys dead. No court case. No parole. No early release. I want 'em dead. Get a gun and when they attack you, shoot 'em." Can you believe this?
He is a maniac and a moron. He is espousing murder. He ought to be jailed for this.
Maybe we could borrow one of those duct tape "gags" from the Schiavo crowd for him, the one that says "Life".A nice irony that would be.

As I said, I was unfamiliar with Nugent, but it appears he sings, along with hysterical ranting. Still can't get over what a rabid moron he is.

Consoviets have ALWAYS derided the left for their idealism--silly liberals think that it's the job of big daddy government to turn America into one big kumbaya fest!--that sort of thing, you've heard variations on theme.

Anyway, isn't what Mr. Nugent is espousing just a form of puerile wingnut make-a-wish-ism? LET'S GET RID OF ALL THE EVILDOERS, YEAH! ROCK N ROLL!!!!

I'm sure we'd ALL like to see rapists, murderers, child molesters et al (indeed, I'll see your carjacker and raise you a racist), eliminated from civilation as a pipe dream. But life, alas, ISN'T that simple and the key to having some semblance of a civilized society is a justice system that examines crimes and adjudicates accordingly. We can't have people, esp. ENRAGED pissed off people doling out "justice" on the fly.

Which brings me to a tangential point I oft hear from the right with reference to guns and self-defense, part of the shoot-first-and-ask-later scenario with home intruders. They bemoan the fact that society doesn't just give a medal of honor to a homeowner who blows away a stranger breaking into his home, that society has NO RIGHT to second guess his protecting his family and his property (possibly in that order). But what do these folks think??? A killing just took place; are the police supposed to just TAKE YOUR WORD that the shooting was justified? It would be irresponsible of the cops to NOT investigate what happened, if not to simply eliminate all other possible angles than the one you put on the table.

Bottom line, this is NOT the Wild West, this is not f**in' Deadwood.
