Gardens, take the kiddies:

"NEW PORT RICHEY - A bronze plaque commemorating President George W. Bush's election stop here during the 2004 campaign will be dedicated at 3:30 p.m. April 29 at Sims Park, between Main and Bank streets."

This is in Pasco County, Florida. They are actually going to list it as a historical site in their brochures. I wonder if they plan on having a 24 hour guard on this obscenity?

2. Florida and Ohio seemed to be on a psyco
race to the bottom. When I think it's impossible to loathe a state more than I do Florida, something like this happens.

I have noticed, interestingly enough, that in my trade, there are far fewer conferences and tradeshows in Florida. Actually, I'm fortunate that I haven't had to go to Florida for a conference for the past four years. Prior to this, I would find myself in Orlando at least once a year.

Speaking of FL, they privatized the foster care program. Are they freaking nuts? It's horrific to think of how coldly a private company will deal in the disadvantaged child trade.

7. Pasco County is an interesting mix of old time Florida hicks and
people who can't afford the house prices in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties.

Privatized foster care has been a disaster. Go to the St. Petersburg Times website and search the names "Family Continuity Programs" and "Hillsborough Kids, Inc." When this program got started nobody would touch it until the legislature enacted a liability cap for them.

3. It will feature a breath-taking roller coaster ride called....
...The BushCo Whirly Dip simulating the economic ups and downs of the Bush Administration policies while images of Bush spoke-persons are projected on the car monitors pledging than each dip is a turn toward prosperity and the final run on the ride is a crash into the Wall Street/Social Security station.

6. Actually the traffic in New Port Richey is so bad you wouldn't want
to go there unless you had to.
