1. I hope he mentions Inhofe Rep Oklahoma of "Clear Skies" fame.
Hey "christians" are all headed to a better place. Those with enough money are going to heaven.

and beyond any legitimate political tactic.

10. He's taking on the Repubs
for their abuse of power, "winning at any cost", re-write the rules if you can't win by them, if you can't win against your opponent, demonize them, is it worth undermining our democracy by confirming Owens, Pryor, Myers, Brown and stresses their unqualifying points

There's really no crisis regarding the judiciciary, there's a crisis in how things are working in Washington

Need to reinstate accountability

16. He mentioned
Owens taking money from Enron and Halliburton and then ruling in their favor, one of the others working to get sentence reduced for a convicted cross-burner, the ABA saying three of them are "unqualified."

Can't believe that when thousands of innocent souls are being killed in Darfur and 45 million Americans have no health insurance and we're going to historic debt to Asian bankers that we're arguing about changing the rules of the Senate over "a few substandard judges." said it's about power and victory and complete control.

Kicking ASS.

11. We're not doing the work of the American people here
everything resorts to politics, Voinovich being attacked for asking for time so that he can be fully informed about Bolton - shamed the right for those attacks

Talked about how both sides have fallen down on doing the job for the American people

Stop using faith to intimidate people!!

They change the facts, they change the rules, whatever it takes, all in the name of power and victory.

That was fantastic!

19. He did good -
He nailed them on all their dirty technniques, shamed them on their underhanded tactics and called on them to rise to a level of accountability and do the work the American people sent them there to do.

He did an excellent job of telling the truth about the repubs abuse of power and some of their tactics.

27. New Kerry Video
I'm just now reading email that came this morning and this is from him, and links to his new video:

http://www.johnkerry.com/action/valuesvideo/

A thread on DU has already been posted:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=1736597

Haven't looked at it yet, but I'll bet it's similar in content to the speech he gave an hour ago.

26. Will this be replayed?
From the accounts here, I would like to watch it. My only reluctance might be if he's as good as you're saying, I'll be sitting there saying WHY WHY WHY...didn't he go for it in the election.

31. You will be saying WHY, WHY, WHY
once you watch it. I'm sure there will be a repeat though.

I just watched his new video, and it brought up the same points on the floor. It's definitely worth a watch and listen, and is about 4 minutes in length.

See my post above for the link to the video.

29. Kerry's Floor Statement - Washington's Broken
April 21, 2005 - Remarks As Prepared for Delivery - Senate Floor

Mr. President, the Republican "nuclear option" has been discussed endlessly on editorial pages, talk radio, and in this chamber. This ongoing debate is about much more than Senate procedure. At its core it's a debate about where we're headed and what kind of nation we want to become. And beneath it are questions about Washington , which seems headed in a direction that clashes with the will of the American people.

The fact we even are talking about this issue is a stark reminder that Washington is not fighting for the broad interests of the American people. From the outside looking in, our Democracy appears broken - endangered by one party rule intent on amassing power, often at the expense of real work the American people elected us to do.

In recent weeks alone we have witnessed as disturbing a course of events as I have ever seen in this city. Republican leaders of Congress are crossing lines that should never be crossed:

The line that says a leader in the House of Representatives should never carelessly threaten or intimidate federal judges.

The line that says the leader of the Senate should never accuse those who disagree with his political tactics of waging a war against people of faith.

30. This is the man I supported
The man I knew I was going to vote for from the moment he announced his candidacy, because I knew he was a fighter. I wish he would have been a fighter like this during the months that they wished to smear his reputation. Instead, he took terrible advice and stood in the shadows. It was a terrible mistake, and it shames me to think of what could have been. Senator Kerry is a great leader, and it's good to see him fighting again.
