Draft General Clark to run in the Democratic Presidential primary! |
|
I wish we still had leaders like Ramsey Clark.
Just think , we used to have him heading the same office we now have the Renos, Ashcrofts, and Gonzelez's of the world heading.
O well , I digress.
Back to the regression of our nation and Democratic party.

1. I think we have more immediate concerns than an election |
|

4 years away. Things like the economy, Iraq, and wherever or whatever else Bush drags us into.
Addition: I find the post-election Kerry for president threads very irritating also.
Addition to addition: I used past tense when apparently I should have used present tense.

2. Oh, I agree -- hell, I'll say it again -- I AGREE |
|
forget presidential elections until 2007.
We have issues right now and we have 2006 elections to try and take back both houses of Congress.

3. Damn, I agree.Its getting rare around here but I agree! |
|
Shit.
I need to reach for a cloth to dry the tears from my eyes.
Lucid,concise,correct,common sensical.
I figure a progressive guy has a right to dream when we are bombarded with the nightmare scenario propaganda around these parts (you know the OTHER 2008 guy), but you are right on in looking at issues and 2006.
Heck if most get there way around here, I think we should just give 2008 to the GOP instead of turning progressive ppopulist voters away from the voting process for good (I really think 2008 could be the election where we turn off many potential voters for good).Just concede 2008 and hold on to what little chances we have. Save our chips.

4. Should Clark be laying groundwork and infrastructure now? |
|
Absolutely. Should you be trying to put a headlock on people in Clark's name FOUR years before the next election? No. I happen to like Clark. In fact, I would vote for him before I would vote for Kerry.
The fact remains that we need to do whatever we can to cope with what Bush is doing to us RIGHT NOW.
Don't get smart with me. That gets you nowhere you want to go.

Wesley Clark is concerned with what Bush is doing to us right now. He is concerned with the 2006 elections. And he is setting a little groundwork in case he decides to run in 2008.
The OP, however, is yanking our chains, and that's the kindest interpretation.
Another interpretation is that he is hoping to irritate DUers, who might take this thread, as you did, as Wesley Clark supporters swamping DU with Clark 2008 posts, so that you will be so disgusted DUers may not want to consider Gen. Clark when the right time does come. The OP and his ilk are doing spadework, preparing the field, hoping some of this bullshit sticks.
This sort of activity, posting a misleading or confusing OP, is done every day here on DU, and they are taken as initiated by Clark supporters. They are not.
Keep an eye out, you'll see it again and again.

5. I hate to kick this thread but I hope that people responding to it realize |
|

That this post is advocating for the nomination of Ramsey Clark, not Wes Clark.
I agree that we should not be pushing candidates at this stage in the game. Just please don't argue against something that the poster is not even advocating.

6. Back 3 or 4 years ago , congressional races were all I talked about. |
|
This place has went to hell in a handbasket at present.
Literally, even in the early part of the year, 2002 was dominated by congressional race talk.

11. The nation could cease to exist and Ramsey will always be my general. |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-22-05 06:52 AM by LimpingLib
The current state of the nation thanks to awful Democratic and GOP Presidents (both past, present, and sadly it appear future)makes our future bleak.Perhaps nonexistant. The archives will cry out if our nation ceases to be.
Once AG always a general IMHO.
People still call war field generals "General" even after retirement , you want an example lol?

19. Evidently the "General" refers to "Attorney General". |

7. Democrats to nominate a career military man! NOT EVER!! |
|
Hey, I voted for Clark in the Delaware primary. And my dad, a life-long democrat would not even consider him. Why not? Because main-stream dems will never nominate a career military man. So good luck to everyone who wants to waste their time, but it AINT GONNA HAPPEN!

Don't presume to speak for all of us. I was not a big fan of the military at all prior to 2003 but after I took a closer look at Wes Clark, I changed my mind.

17. Why are we talking about Wesley Clark? |
|
The OP was advocating the drafting of Attorney GENERAL Ramsey CLARK, not four-star Army General Wesley Clark.

would be an excellent idea. Anyone want to help me put together a petition?
