Why our news anchors are nothing short of POS.(BBC video links)
Edited on Fri Apr-22-05 06:59 AM by LimpingLib
I just cant stand it anymore. The smug jack offs like Brokaw might be treated like nothing short of divinity but I have to break from the chorus.Lets end the charade. All the $10,000 tailor made to snug over the shoulders suits and $150 haircuts just dont do it for me.

Our politicians are scripted and never engage in a genuine debate with average citizens. Our anchors are holier than the pope. Every time they go before the camera is a real SHORT exercise (like 4 minutes of telepromptor reading , WHAT TALENT!)witha stif lipped slow deep voiced "today this happened" then its it.The most noteworthy aspect is the trillion $$$ camera footage and lighting effects. The few times they interview a politicican like a Presidential candidate, the production value is priceless , the discussion is slow and B-O-R-I-N-G almost on script. Its a big media event that might happen maybe once every 4 years.

I dont need Brokaw to lecture me on "morality" (ie the "greatest generation") from times past , I need them to get off their high horses and cover the world.A world where 30,000 people starve to eath every year. While their networks run soap operas, talk shows , and sitcoms ad nauseum. While O.J. or Scott Peterson gets entire channels devoted to full 24/7 coverage, the "great honorable" newsmen dont show us shit from trials of former leaders of nations we destroyed through bombings the media propagated us into supporting.

I would go on about all the B.S. Brokaw (from ass kissers like Chris Matthews or Russert ..."Tom you are so great a man of the hour for your time")gets one of the few times he spends a longer than usual amount of time (more than 22 minutes)infront of the camera pontificating BUT INSTEAD Ill just show what REAL dialogue with the nation is all about.

Notice that in the U.K. politicicans actually talk to real people on the street too in heated discussions not scripted focus groped discussions here.

EDIT 30,000 people starve to death every DAY , glad I proofread something I posted for once. Most DUers never heard that and many other truths saldy, so that typo was devestating.95% of the nation is idiots , DU falls far short of that , but still many even in areas of relative thoughtfulness like DU wont know the REAL issues of the day over all the "we must bomb this and that nation....nominate a warmonger" ssues of the elite.

2. I remember that.
And remember back in 1997 when the reporter rang Tony Blairs doorbell and his wife went and opened the door without any fears of "terrorism"? I never seen hair so bad looking in my life but at least it was an um genuine moment.

Now we have so many SS agents and Homeland Security thugs in our already fortress nation its just disgusting. Im sure UK isnt as homely as it once was.

Why cant we just stay out of other nations affairs and stay out of peoples live in our own nation? Just have average Joes run for office and no more CIA sponsored candidates so we can meddle in the world?

We have a nation that is more invasive of every aspect of OTHER nations affairs yet the most pathetic excuse for a media the world has ever seen.Turnout should be 110% in our nation just for our foreign policy alone. We should have falgship networks that do NOTHING but talk about the worlds issues. Instead we dont cover 1 second of even canadian and Mexican affairs. We dont even cover our own affairs.

Even if we minded our own business and had a national policy of foreign and civil libertarianism (called "promoting freedom" and not in the Orwell sense)hence all there was to vote on was economic policy then our media should STILL do what other more benign nations do (UK Is not one of them but anyway my point is..), and that is cover every issue in micro detail infront of an interested and engaged public.

3. Actually
the UK - especially London - used to be very like the US is now when the IRA bombing campaigns were on. Every inch of central London has been under CCTV since the early 80's. They used to have a "ring of steel" around it.

5. U.K. isnt the best example of benignity,no amount of whitewashing can ....
..erase history.

Humankind has mastered the fine art of killing everything in sight including itself.U.K. and USA go hand in glove there.

But I was refering to the (first of all Blairs rural house not Downing Sreet)politicicans ability to interact and fiercly debate every schmuck they meet. And the average U.K. citizen is 100 times smarter than your typical US politicicn , and 130 times smarter than the loud mouthed idiots in our nations streets (Im as loud as anybody myself lol , a product of my culture just I know something about issues).

U.K. and Canada have quite peaceful citizens and smart articulate politicicans (Blair for all his faults is very articulate compared to our elected clowns , but is just average by U.K. standards)yet they get loud and agressive in their politican debates.

Our politicicans are quiet and packaged. The only part of American culture that is stiff and up-tight are our media and politicicans.

Here is a C-SPAN link, watch the Canadian lawmaking body in action.

4. Ah yes, the Paxman interview of Blair
I saw a segment of it. He kept trying to get a straight answer from Blair over the number of failed asylum seekers in the U.K. (a big issue now since a police officer/investigator was killed by one) and he didn't have an answer, despite being asked over 20 times.

Jeremy Paxman is so far beyond anyone on American television it's almost incomprehensible.

6. I liked the pounding he gave the Liberal-Dem leader best.
And I like that party the best at present (wish Ashdown was still leading it)and wish it nothing but the best electoral success.

But robust issue discussion is my top priority.
