I wish we would stop using the word DINO |
|
It makes us look like a bunch of freepers. Look through the average thread at Free Republic, and you'll see the word RINO in practically ever post. It's insane. I think we're better than that. Criticism, sure. But we gotta stop calling anyone who votes with the Republicans on one bill or nomination a DINO, it's the kind of knee-jerk thinking that belongs to the freepers, not us.

I agree, but what other word would you use to describe pro-corporate sellouts?

Certainly not pro-corporate sellouts. ;)
I don't think the internet lends itself very well to polite discourse. I just, I dunno, I guess I'd like it if we didn't demonize our own with every vote. We're a pretty powerless minority right now, and if we vote against everything, we become even more powerless.

6. All the more reason... |
|
... to fight back and resist. That might actually build consensus among the voters, instead of kissing the asses of lobbyists--which is now going on at a considerable pace--for campaign money.
And if you don't believe there are pro-corporate sellouts among the Democrats now, you truly need to look at their votes....
Remember that, in the old days (remember that Bible the `pugs are always talking about?), people who offended members of their society, who behaved badly, were shunned. Democrats who favor corporate interests over the interests of ordinary people have offended the members of their society. They deserve derision. They deserve to be shunned.

5. DINO should be reserved for Zell types |
|
Remember the phrase "I don't belong to an organized political party - I'm a Democrat."
That's really very accurate.

7. The use of the expression does not a freep make. |
|
The frequency and the knee-jerk thinking that you describe does.
As for "calling anyone who votes with the Republicans on one bill or nomination a DINO" - that's not real DUers doing that. That's trolls.
