Free Republic and the “Amen Corner” are at it again. They’re preaching fire and brimstone, maliciously misinterpreting the judicial filibuster. Their extreme, fundamentalist, right-wing behavior is leading to the downfall of this once great country, America. Their ignorant resolve is ruining this nation through their attacks on ‘Justice Sunday’ while stamping a cross over the Constitution, leaving us little choice but to stand up and fight a Holy Roller war. Nevertheless, Robinson and his “Amen Corner” are still going at it, hammering away as if they have nothing to lose but their dignity.
Even more disgusting, Jim Robinson, the “Apostle of Religious Bigotry,” has links where members of his fanatic website can practice “Bigotry 101,” shortchanging the Constitution and treating the minority as if they were red-headed step children. In a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll, 60% of Americans agreed with the Democrats, saying that Senate rules shouldn’t be changed to make it easier to confirm President Bush’s judicial nominees. Well, the rabid dogs of Free Republic went to work on their comments.
Some of their inane comments included, “Well, what else would a WASHPOSTABCNEWS ‘poll’ say,” asked an ignorant sole, named only as Mister Republican—we know a lot of thought went into that screen name. “It's a MSM push-up poll! By Victoria's Secret,” screams dirtboy, another slobbering moron. “Takes the opinions you want Americans to believe, pads them, and lifts them up and makes them appear much bigger than they really are!” More ignorance is noted by TChris, saying, “Push-polled Bovine Excrement.” Here’s one that marks a fine example of stupidity at Free Republic. “Bush ran on federal judicial appointments in large part. He won by several million votes. That is the only poll that counts,” crowed jwalsh07. And finally, the coupe de grace of benightedness comes from kcvl, with some of the least thought-provoking comments of them all: “ WASHPOSTABCNEWS are LIARS! When they start REPORTING news instead of MAKING news then I'll listen to them. Until then, they are LIARS pushing their agenda! Who did they poll, Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosi? Everyone that I have spoken to (and not all of them Conservatives) say VOTE ALREADY and shut up about filibustering. They are as sick of the constant TALKING, SLANDERING, COMPLAINING, etc as I am.”
These kind of people know no end to their obscenities. They congregate on this forum and preach to the choir, trumpeting their thoughts of racism, bigotry and speaking of God and the Constitution. They obsess in their ideology of hate and forget the very people they purport to defend, the little people. They listen to talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Medved and Mark Levin. These experts will stop at nothing to continue the tyranny of their warped views.
But there are those that are standing up to be counted, standing up to fight these fanatics of fascism. There are ordinary citizens that have had enough of their moralistic truisms, sticking it to conservatives every chance they get. They are liberals. They’re red, white, socialist and proud of it. They come in all flavors, from Marxists to Communists. Their fine tradition of big government and wealth distribution knows no end, and they’ll stop at nothing to see their utopia come to fruition.
There are men like George Robertson, an architect from Seattle, Washington, raising his exhortations to an all new high. “Perhaps these tyrannical moral crusaders speak in support of widely held, even majority religious belief in their districts, but this view of morality is far from a universal one. In making a homophobic Christian moral rule, the law of Washington, they have wronged not only the homosexual victims whose rights remain denied, but they have wronged us all, by weakening the popular understanding of the meaning of equal rights, and undermined the universality of the protections extended by the Bill of Rights, rights which defend us all from the worst abuses of an over reaching state. The system of checks and balances that protects those rights is again under assault from the same religious zealots today. Zealots who attack the filibuster, to pack the court for an extremist intolerant Christian majority. This narrow minded moral crusade is a treasonous affront to the U.S.Constitution. It is a fundamental wrong that even radical Christians, should understand.”
George continued his verbal assault on the right-wing fundamentalists, saying, “For two centuries American constitutional protections, extended to us all, having kept us free from the tyranny of zealous majorities. Because of that, you have the freedom to worship strangely and to limit your church rituals to heterosexuals if you want. You have the freedom to espouse fascist and hate based causes. Even the freedom to make speeches proposing denial of certain rights to whole classes of Americans is protected. But luckily, for all of us, who might someday be subject to one of these legal but narrow minded populist crusades, the Bill of Rights of our Constitution restrains us in some crucial ways. We are not free to deny broad individual rights and we are obligated to treat all citizens alike under the law. This is an inconvenience for tyrants that our Courts enforce, much to the dismay of extremists on the right. Today right-wing forces with an army of fundamentalist Christians, drooling for unlimited political power, seek to extinguish these rights and the independence of the courts that enforce their protection.”
Hard facts like those deserve an Amen! Thank you brother, Robertson! Keep up the fight and never stop until America has become a cesspool of socialism. We need good little soldiers like you to end all ties to the Constitution, rebuke the beliefs of the majority of citizens and thwart the efforts of Congress. Men such as George Robertson provide that ever-so-delicate balance of stripping liberty not found now-a-days among the average American. We’re lucky to have him on the left side of things.
George Robertson isn’t alone. In an Associated Press article, Gay Foes, GOP Takes to Pulpit Sunday, dated April 23, 2005, Joe Phelps, who joined nearly two dozen other ministers Friday morning at a news conference to criticize Sunday’s event, said, “This is deceptive, manipulative and false. Stop. Please stop.”
Justice Sunday is the type of partisan political event intended to be kept out of the church and should be cause for an investigation of the tax-exempt status, noted Raoul Cunningham, head of the Louisville branch of the NAACP.
From citizens to reverends, Americans are coming out to smite the Holly Roller right, knowing that in their darkest of terrors, the U.S. Constitution may be enforced at any moment. They boldly stand, proclaiming their socialist agenda and fighting Free Republic and the “Amen Corner.” Because they know—hiding in their basements—that limiting freedom is the key to a one powerful and over-reaching federal government. And they will stop at nothing to see its undoing.
