Fun with College Republicans!
So our Fair Trade group on campus just got a resolution through the student senate to provide 100% Fair Trade certified coffee at Aramark, which is the major coffee vendor on campus.

News of this comes out on the mailing list and we get a reply from a guy who I have never seen post:

"Congratulations, yet another abuse of monopolistic
contracts for services on campus. Free Trade should be
AVAILABLE at all locations on campus, but to force all
students and faculty that work/study on campus to support
free trade coffee is wrong. That is socialism. Let the
student body choose which coffee to purchase. And if we
assume that the majority of the student body supports it
because the student senate voted so, than we would also
have to make the assumption that 90% of Americans wanted
to go to war in Iraq. We should be more careful in how we
seek to support our causes.

P.S. can I please be removed from your list?
"

I'm thinking...What an asinine reply and comparison to the Iraq war. So I reply to him and decide to google his name...

After a little digging I found out what's wrong. It turns out he is **DRUMROLL** the Vice-Chair of UNM College Republicans!!

Sometimes the cockroaches come out of hiding. :)

3. Vice-chair, hell!
Wait till you meet the Chairman of the UNM College Repubs. I went to high school with him (he's three years older than me). I will tell you one thing. He's scary. Very intelligent (book-smart and politically savvy, but also brainwashed) and very fascist (you know, "immigrants should stop whining and start doing the jobs the rest of us don't wanna" type). Also, he wants to be president.

I haven't heard much about him on campus...Was he outspoken in high school?

5. Oh, yeah.
Personally, he's a friendly guy. As long I he and I did not talk politics (EVER), we got along quite well. Three years ago, he wrote a youth column for the local paper, which my parents hated (at that time I did not read the paper - I was a freshman). He was popular here, b/c Farmington is Republican Hell. Last year, I took up the reins of youth columnist, and became the Michael Moore of San Juan County (ya either hate me or love me). Then the paper got bought up by Gannett and they flipped a big FUCK YOU to any local input.

I believe he's also the chair of the NM College Republicans State Convention.
