So Bush is saying change from Social Security for all to Welfare for poor |
|
Seniors? That is the best I am understanding here. He is suggesting taking a system that benefits all who contribute and their widows and children, to one where middle class Americans live on a gambling system and the poor will live a dollar above poverty?
Social Security --- Retirement Welfare? That's sure what it sounds like.

2. I agree. He makes Social Security sound like a gift from our government. |
|
Did you notice he said the funds taken in to social security were being paid out, and then the money that is left over is used for other things.
It's the left over money used for other things that has bankrupted social security. (almost).
He also told a biggie tonight. He said no one has looked at Social Security and fixing the problem for the past 20 years. How soon they forget.
Bill Clinton had the idea to use 60% of the "surplus" we attained during his administration. He suggested using 60% of that and investing that money into the stock market, and any profits to put in the Social Security Trust Fund. Oh nooooooooooooooooooo. The Republicans would not go along with that plan.
Clinton's plan would not have touched the Social Security trust fund, worried people that the majority party is wanting to mess with the "insurance" for their retirement they have paid in too all their lives. Also, if the money was lost, it would not hurt the American People.
I think he forgot about that.
