2. Can't hurt to try
I'm running for my city council next year. I think it's necessary for some of us to begin public service, so go for it.

3. Where?
I voted yes, but I think it's important for us to know who you'll be running against. Either way...what the hell? We could use your certain je ne sais crois!

9. Illinois 13th
against Judy Biggert. I know at least one other person is seeking the nomination and I know nothing about him.

I might be a better volunteer for him.

15. You'd be doing America a great service!
If we could send him off to spend more time with his family...

Hell, I think we'd all be willing to fund any relocation expenses ;)

It can be brutal, and heartbreaking, but if you don't run then you can't win. Hope you decide to go for it....

13. You been getting some exposure on the 'nets recently, Walt.
Billmon and I think Atrios mentioned your post at dKos. Capitalize on that exposure!

17. I don't know much about that district
Other than it includes sections of western Chicago. My notes indicate the Democratic candidate got roughly 29% in 2002 and 35% in 2004. I have a notation that Gloria Anderson would probably run again. Regarding a potential Democratic primary challenger, you know nothing about "him" so I guess Gloria is out or has not decided. Looks like a district trending our way. The problem, as always, is financing and getting the DNC to fund a candidate and race that doesn't look obvious as top tier pickup opportunity. Best of luck in making this decision and the potential campaign. Bold moves are admirable and rewarding, regardless of the outcome.

18. I would only suggest finding out what you can about any other Democrats
who might be running and find out who is backing them. Then make a decision from there.

20. Why Not?
Here's a suggested film to view in advance of your candidacy:

Man with a Plan
http://www.newenglandfilm.com/news/archives/98may/manplan.htm
Man with a Plan is the chronicle of 72-year-old farmer Fred Tuttle's race for Congress in his native Vermont. Why? He needs a job with health benefits that doesn't require experience. Besides, as Fred's campaign slogan asks, "Why not?"

21. No! His analysis of Air National Guard Medals will be held against him,
Big Time. The Swift Boaters will go at him for trying to prove Rather was correct. He's already been exposed. We don't want a fellow DU'er to have to suffer through that.

Plus he's already got alot of fame the last few days for figuring out that DeLay might have copped a plea.

Whiskey Bar's Billmon and others are alread working hard and that means the Freepers are alerted.

We can't have this kind of candidate running. We need weaker candidates so the Repugs won't bother. Starr has called too much attention to some issues...he will be a "trouble maker."

:D...Go for it Walt!
