Remembering Rosa Parks in Los Angeles

“We need to celebrate Rosa Parks, but we also need to be inspired by her.” - Antonio Villaraigosa, 10/27/2005



Yesterday, Angelenos including politicians, celebrities, activists and everyday people congregated at the First AME Church to pay their respects to Rosa Parks, “an ordinary woman who had an extraordinary impact on American society. ”

“I’m here today, the first Latino mayor of this city in 133 years, because there was a civil rights act and because of Rosa Parks,” Villaraigosa said to thunderous applause.
