Rovian-style tactic failing atrociously: "Scalito" is Racist Nickname. lol
Drudge's big "exclusive" claims that Reeps are terribly offended by the "Scalito" nickname, finding it somehow insensitive to all Italian Americans. LOL

One outraged Republican strategist claimed, “If Alito were a liberal there would be no way Democrats and Washington’s media elite would use such a ethnically insensitive nickname. Italian-Americans should not have to face these types of derogatory racial slurs in 21st century America.”

WTF? Fat Sammy, Sam the Fixer, SammySalami, fine. But Scalito?
Their logic defies logic.

6. That's not a sentence.
No verb. Maybe "Drudge and logic go together like a fish and a bicycle." There's a sentence for ya.

7. So An Italian Surname Is An Insult?
That's so stupid as to defy comment. I have an italian surname and when my wife took my name upon marriage, i doubt she considered an italian surname to be an insult. They both have italian surnames, so how can combining two italian surnames be an ethnic slur?

This is incredibly dumb. No wonder it comes from Drudge. Stupid is as stupid does.

21. Marietta, Georgia.
My head explodes daily here!

We are surrounded by wingnuts. Fish (not fresh, the Jesus kind)on their cars and everything. My child is in the school district that had the "Evolution is a theory" stickers on their science text books.

We bought in this area because the high school is #1 in the state. We are big believers in public school. (There are brazillions of private schools in the Atlanta area since Georgia public schools aren't that great overall.) However, we didn't do our research since we only found out AFTER we moved here that Newt Gingrich used to live very close to where we live.

I do love the area, however, and there are pockets of people that think like I do, but there are definitely more fundies than normal people. After my son is out of high school we will most likely move to another part of the Atlanta metropolitan area that is much more like Chicago politically.

22. Atlanta and liberals
Yep! You're in the mouth of Hell up there in Ma'retta. Them are good christianists who hate them homos and all them atheists in the bad, black city.

I am an Atlantan, living in Morningside which was wall to wall Kerry signs last year. Frankly, since I am a bleeding-heart style liberal I am afraid to even drive through Marietta. Keep your head down and when you decide to move check out this area or Inman Park. We are nice, tolerant people in these communities and would welcome you.

23. Hatch repeated this on Fox...
According to Thom Hartmann. Thom asks "What slur against Italians starts with S"? Indeed.

Scalito. Thom read various newspaper mentions of the Scalito nickname, each one used to describe how Alito's judicial views match closely those of Scalia. Never, in any of those articles, one from 2000, ever mentions Alito's race.

Scalito is an effective term to describe how much like Scalia's judicial views Alito's views are. The right knows this, and they have decided to use a false, racist attack on those who would want to discuss Alito's judicial temperament.

The extremist right wing once again shows us what racists they are. And, as Randi says, when they show you who they are, believe them.
