2. Yea and Nay
smart guy, but too DLC.
Smarmish guy who thinks he is smarter than anyone else. Even if it is true 70% of the time, his arrogance can bet tiresome.
Smarty-pants guy who thinks that hillary will be our next president.
Snarky guy who cut the legs out of several grass roots candidates, including one in illinois.

His seat is safe. It's CHICAGO fer kryst's sake.
He will never have an opponent. But, his appetite is to be the puppet master from above, and he tries very hard to do that nationally.

I would trust him as far as I could throw your average adult African bull elephant, however, especially during the feeding frenzy of the wet season.

6. He and Schumer are on my shite list.
they're doing more than just cutting out the legs of grass roots candidates, they're actually picking and choosing which candidates for which races THEY intend to RUN. (forget about who the grassroots wants to see elected)

I despise both of them almost as much as i despise Tom Delay.

3. If you liked Bill Clinton you will probably like Rahm.
Major player from the Clinton era. Plays to win. I have no problem with him yet.

5. Not from Illinois.. but I'll say this about Rahm...
Damn, he's a smooth talker!!!

Very easy to listen to! Yes, he is a member of the DLC. But as far as being an effective spokesperson, wow- they don't get much better.

Well.. General Clark is might be a little better speaker.. and ... Edwards rocks on the stump..

..but Rahm is right up there with the best of the Democratic speakers!

Absolutely no one surpasses Feingold.

9. Oooh yeah! .. I agree...
And Feingold is 100% sincere!

Feingold dazzles them with his brilliance, Rahm baffles them with his b.s.

They're both great in front of the mic. But yeah.. I'd agree with you that Feingold is far better!

10. Larissa, did you see the pro-Feingold letter
to the editor in this morning's paper?

"Not mentioned in the March 22 article "Bush candid on Iraq" is the president's full response to Helen Thomas' question from that same press conference: "Every reason given, publicly at least, has turned out not to be true. My question is, why did you really want to go to war?" President Bush gave a confused and dissembling statement mixing Afghanistan, al-Qaida and terrorism with Iraq, including once again the lie that Saddam wouldn't let the U.N. inspectors back into the country. I submit that he is lying rather than being "candid" because the alternative is to believe that the president of the United States lives in a world of delusion and incompetence.

Anyone who has been paying attention to reality is aware that, in fact, there were hundreds of U.N. inspectors on the ground for months preceding the invasion and they found zero evidence of weapons of mass destruction, as David Kay's American team verified later. Yet the president continues to spout this?

I long for the day when the president of the United States of America will once again be the smartest man in the room.

Sen. Russ Feingold for president in 2008.

---- Robert Atkinson

Seward"

:applause:, Mr. Atkinson

11. Glib, telegenic, young, partisan
A little too political for my taste, but it works for him. Between our Illinois TV twosome (Obama, Rahm), and Schweitzer, Ford, Spitzer, Hackett, Granholm, the Fighting Dems, and the rest of the young prominent Dems, the GOP is in for a very long decade.

12. Illinois has Durbin, a hard working, good guy.
If you put our two senators next to each other, Durbin appears solid, knowledgeable and concerned.
Obama looks and acts like the dilettante that he is.

One has a spine. The other lies with worms.
One seriously considers impeachment or censure. The other supports lieberman and McCain.

guess which is which.

13. Go easy on the guy - he's still figuring it out
He is under a lot of pressure - after his DNC speech everyone was predicting that he would be the First Black President, before he'd even been elected.

If you want to know what the expereinced Obama will be like, go back and look at that speech. Once he's been there for a few years, he will be just as tenacious as Durbin.

14. Rahm is allright
But yes he's too DLC for my liking. Yes I like it when he's in the House making powerful speaches but off the floor he's terrible. With his DLC views and his way of "picking candidates" instead of grassroots Russ Feingold type Democrats, he like to run Democrats that are basically DLC clones and a spitting image of Joe Liberman(i.e Tammy Duckworth). What's worse is that he's in the House for life cause he repersents the north side of Chicago(which is highly democratic)and the only time that district has a republican repersenting that district was from 1995-1996 when that office was held by Mike Flanagan(he got in on the coattails of Newt Gingrich).

So there's good sides of Rahm and there's bad sides of Rahm, take your pick.
