A modest proposal for protest and to honor Molly Ivins: |
|
Let's start up ongoing protests around the country in the style Molly suggested in her last column.
Let's call it the Molly Ivins Memorial Pot-Banging Antiwar Crusade. Complete with everybody and their kid marching and banging on pots and pans and yelling STOP IT NOW! STOP IT NOW! STOP THE WAR NOW!!
This could be spontaneous in nature, just groups of people every day,a cross the country, banging away..........with larger more organized pot-bangings on a regular basis in larger cities............complete with pics of Molly, and (kestrel's idea) Bush dummies hung in effigy........
Children could form their own pot-banging brigades to march through residential neighborhoods, raising political awareness.
I think Molly would approve.

1. I'll bet we could get a red hot pot banging protest going in New Haven in |
|
a Connecticut minute!
That would be terrific. What a great idea!

2. Molly would love the title. |
|
But she would not approve of her picture being part of it.
I can just hear her, "What the Hell is the focus, here? You are banging those pots against the War!".

3. I think there is a pot-banging revolutionary tradition even. |
|
Goes way back. Molly Ivins was likely aware of it. God bless her.
Someone came and stood on our street-corner recently with her husband and his homemade sign on one hand and her kettle and wooden spoon in the other.

4. I never met her and I've been sobbing for an hour. She was my friend. |
