Just curious, has anyone ever thought, "Gee, I was way off on slamming Bush. ...
I keep hoping I will one day say, "This guy actually did something sane for the country and the rest of the world."

This can't be real. Nobody can be such an idiot and President at the same time, or can they?

2. All the time.
I slam him as hard as I can and then, a few months later, realize that I didn't slam him a fraction enough.

I'm always underestimating how much slamming Chimpy needs. Sometimes I worry my slamming skills aren't up to the job.

Are Americans really well-enough equipped for the task?

Do we need to outsource it? ;-)

3. It's a funny question because in the first few years of his "reign"
I said the same thing to myself - it wasn't possible that pResident Buh could be such a fuckup so consistently. But he could and he can & he is. It goes to show you that contrary to what we were told, it does take intelligence to be president. Good ol' common sense, if that's what the Pretzel has, is not enough.

4. Not me. I will confess to giving him the benefit of the doubt
After 9/11 I hoped he might actually grow into the office the way some people do when they are faced with a tremendous challenge. Instead of growing, though, he became smaller, meaner, more petty.

5. I said something incredibly rash about four years ago.
When it became apparent that we were going to get strapped to the tumbler of the steamroller that was going to Iraq, I said, "I hate Republicans and I'm going to raise my kids to hate them too."

What I regret to this day, was that I didn't really go through the teaching my kids, part.

Totally unable to add to its numbers. One-way street in the opposite direction, baby.

8. Nope, slammed him so hard my rotator cuff is torn and not only that
this question reminds me of one I asked of people in the 2004 election cycle:
"I'm looking for the man/woman who did not vote for Bush the first time, and who is so impressed by now they have to change their opinion."

Still looking :)

9. Anywhere else, he would have been fired within 2 weeks. This is incredible.
My buddy Herbie was fired the day before Christmas due to downsizing. Bush piles up debts like no body's business and gets re-elected. Does not compute.

but he has outdone by far even my wildest imagination as to how disastrous he'd be. I guess we still haven't nuked anybody yet, that's saying something.

14. I agree 100%. Even from where I am, after reading up on this guy and....
watching in the election of 2000 I said this guy is a loser and he will steal the election.

Never underestimate the gullibility of the American were my thoughts.

Yes, he is much worse than I expected and he is trying to weenie his way out of his mess.

20. OK, I'll try.
He has accelerated the disastrous course this country has been on since WWII so much that it may spur the nation to make the fundamental changes that we've needed, and ignored in our comfortable ignorance.

Well probably not, but that's the best I can come up with.

Is it worse enough yet?

On a lighter note, think what will be taught in history books about the night he brought Congress into session to act on the Terri Schieavo case....not to mention the Bill Frist over the phone diagnoses! The truth is stranger than fiction!

16. nope. I knew we were for serious trouble when I hear the SCOTUS
had stopped the counting in Florida. I am not a 'weeper' usually but I put my head down and cried when I heard that. I had a huge feeling of dread and almost fear.

Nothing since then has changed my feelings at all. Even on 9/11 as he flew around the country like the coward that he is I knew he'd do the absolute worst/wrong thing in response. And he did.

I'm always amazed how the talking heads discuss his ratings after a speech as if that one time will magically cause him to bounce back in ratings. The man has no redeeming qualities of any kind!!! End of story!

the entire world a big, f-ing mess? I've been around for lots of presidents (today, by the way, is my 58th birthday - 58 is the new 38, right?) and no president, Nixon included, comes close to being the disaster George W. Bush is.

Horrible beyond the credible, and he's got the capacity to start the "end game," as it were. It's a nightmare from which there is no waking.
