Under Prez Gore, Katrina Would Have NEVER Happened!! |
|
That's my belief and I believe it is true. Gore being the environmentalist, would have NEVER waited 4 days just to fly over New Orleans.Furthermore...would have raised wholly Hell for FEMA dragging it's feet they way they have. No way would New Orleans STILL be in dire straights as it remains today under Bush.
What do YOU think?

In fact, its likely New Orleans would not have been flooded as severely, since Bush cut funds to refit the levees, years before katrina hit.

10. FEMA would not have been a dumping ground for the least |

competent campaign contributors. It would not have been relegated to an afterthought of DHS. It would not have been turned into a paranoid agency dedicated to quarantining a population exposed to a chemical or biological terror attack.
In other words, it would have been Carter's FEMA, not Reagan's. Who knows how many people might still be alive if they'd gone into the city instead of blockading it for five days?
New Orleans was a crisis waiting to happen. Chances are much of the city would have been lost, no matter what. The city's people would be in much better shape, though.

If Gore had been president, he wouldn't have destroyed FEMA by putting incompetents in charge. Gore would have mobilized federal resources to help people evacuate before the storm, and then get into New Orleans, the rest of Louisiana, and Mississippi to rescue people after the storm. Federal aid would have flowed more efficiently.
Furthermore, I absolutely believe that if Gore had been president, the attacks on 9/11 would not have occurred, and we certainly would never have invaded and occupied Iraq. We would never have had to create Homeland Security or send all those troops and equipment overseas. Those resources would have been available to the nation before and after natural disasters.

14. LA Nat'l Guardsmen in Iraq |
|
were IMing me to stay up on what was goin on back home and cursing because their high water equipment was sitting in the sand over there with them. They weren't being released to return home to do the duty they signed up for. One guy was so torn up. He was from NO and his Mother and GF were alone to deal with it all. I finally found them in Houston and got word to him. None of this Bush prolonged nightmare would have happened to American citizens if Al Gore had been in the WH where he was supposed to be.

7. Oh, I thought you meant he would have reversed the climate change, reduced the effects, etc. |
|
I do agree, however, that Gore probably would have NOT consciously decided, in a fit of political brinkmanship, to withhold federal assistance to the area in order to make the Democratic woman governor look bad.
I do believe in order to get to a certain level in national politics, you have to be politically minded. But the level that Bush and the Republicans demonstrated during Katrina, letting people, Americans, die and suffer in order to achieve some political gain, is perverse.

That having been said, You probably would have had people that actually believe Government is a noble and useful thing, and they do tend to react better to emergencies.....
