This sounds like a scandal all it own! The guy has to be paying someone to keep his ass out of the court room.

Representative indicted in September 2005 for money laundering and conspiracy in connection with the Texas redistricting scandal. The conspiracy charges were waived, but the former Majority Leader still faces the money laundering charge. DeLay was named as “Representative #2” in the guilty plea of his former chief of staff Tony Rudy, who was convicted in connection to the actions of Jack Abramoff. DeLay’s name has also surfaced in the Brent Wilkes-Duke Cunningham scandal and the Justice Department may be looking at his actions in relation to that case. DeLay resigned from the House in 2006.

1. Who is the US Atty with oversight for his district? Did he keep his job in exchange for kid gloves
for Delay?

Inquiring minds want to know.

8. I believe all indictments to date have been state charges...
not Federal and he is being prosecuted by local DA.

5. That's the most likely answer. I don't live in Tx. anymore, but
I bet some insiders in Houston would tell you that DeLay's lawyers have continued to request postponements just to keep everything quiet until after the 08 elections. THEN of course, he'll be on the pardon list!

9. Yes. As I understand it, the Prez can pardon anyone for anything,
and even actions they MAY have done in the past. It's quite a powerful option, and I'm sure Shrub is going to overuse it!

Not state-level stuff; for that there are governors.

On edit: That's not true, actually. He can pardon anything the judiciary dishes out; impeachment's beyond his ability to pardon.

10. Stalling is my guess too
There is a stall job being done in an attempt to contain as much damage as possible.I wouldn't expect to see much progress on the Delay issue until after the 2008 vote is complete.

15. There is no Justice in America. None.
There is an oligarchy. Their only requirement is to keep the public docile, so once in a great while, they throw one of their minor servants to the wolves.
