Predictions: Which Dems will drop out first?
I say Obama will drop out before Edwards. In any event, if any candidate finishes a distant third (or worse) in Iowa, the clock begins ticking for them to get out of the race.

Who will win Iowa? I say 1. Edwards, 2. Clinton & 3. Obama a close third place, which will keep him in the race.

3. Like I said in your GOP thread, there's really no point to dropping out before Super Duper Tuesday
on Feb 5th.

If there is any chance you could be a viable candidate, who knows what crazy events could propel you the main stage before then.

If you already have a campaign and structure, there's no reason to drop out before then.

9. Good points
At least some of the candidates without national organizations will probably drop out.

What good is a national organization if you can't win, place or show in Iowa?

4. Kucinich, Gravel and Dodd
Unfortunately. I'd probably vote for Dodd if he survives to the Maryland primary. But I'll probably support Richardson or Edwards.

5. I can't imagine Obama dropping out even if he gets 3rd or 4th place.
He's too popular around the country. I also don't see Edwards dropping out either. Look how long he stayed in getting publicity long after it was obvious he couldn't beat Kerry. The man has tenacity!

6. No way.
The top three will be in the race until Feb 5th and maybe beyond that.

I don't think ANY candidate will drop out after Iowa.

12. Obama will drop out and be replaced by Oprah...
What the U.S. needs right now is someone with even less experience than Obama...the woman who brought the world Dr. Phil would be a great president...she could go around having herself air-brushed constantly so that she looks years younger and 4 stones lighter.

15. I hope nobody drops out. I hope it's all decided in a smoke-free room.
Wouldn't it be great to have a nominating convention that was REALLY a nominating convention?

Wouldn't the roll-call of the states be a lot more interesting if Tweety and Timmy didn't know and repeatedly announce the outcome beforehand?

Wouldn't it be healthy to pound out our platform in public, rather than accept the take-it-or-leave-it approach we usually get from the DLC?
