1. Wow, that's the first time I've seen the Edwards speech |
|
I knew it was bad, but not that bad.

4. Yeah, absolutely creepy |
|
What struck me also as strange was his accent is so very different from now.

Very different. I have a friend from Alabama who moved to NYC, which is where I first met her. She says what she did before moving was actually study how to speak with less of an accent by copying TV newscasters. There is a notable softness to her speech, so you know she's not a native New Yorker, but it's very slight. I know I pick up local inflection wherever I am for any amount of time, but I wouldn't have thought of actively changing it. My friend said it would have to be done in New York or Washington if you want to succeed in a job, although that wasn't always the case. Well, she's a whole lot more successful than I have ever been, that's for sure.

10. Edwards admitted he was wrong ... Obama still voting |
|
or not bothering to vote on supporting untethered war funding:
12/18/2007 Iraq Withdrawal Amendment NV 11/16/2007 Supplemental Appropriations for the Department of Defense and Timeline for Withdrawal from Iraq Y 11/16/2007 Emergency Supplemental Appropriations for the Department of Defense N 10/01/2007 National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008 NV 09/21/2007 Iraq Troop Reduction Amendment Y 09/19/2007 Time Between Troop Deployments Y 07/18/2007 Iraq Troop Reduction Y 05/24/2007 Emergency Departmental Supplemental Appropriations Bill of 2007 N 04/26/2007 Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Bill of 2007 with Iraq Withdrawal Timeline Y 03/27/2007 Iraq Withdrawal Amendment N 03/15/2007 United States Policy in Iraq Resolution of 2007 Y 09/28/2006 Habeas Review Amendment Y 09/28/2006 Military Commissions Amendment Y 09/28/2006 Oversight of CIA Interrogation and Detention Amendment Y 09/28/2006 Military Commissions Act of 2006 N 09/06/2006 Cluster Munitions Amendment Y 06/22/2006 Troop Redeployment Amendment N 02/02/2006 Military Funding and Tax Cuts Amendment Y
And, before you start nitpicking on titles only, read the details ... all will become clear.
Just like he does with gay marriage or anything else the least bit controversial, Obama has played political chess with the Iraq War votes.

17. Voting to fund the troops fighting the illegal war is NOT voting for the war. |
|
I guess it helps you sleep at night when thinking about how that war killed so many innocent people.

18. duh, he's still voting. he's in the senate. Edwards |
|
isn't in the Senate anymore. And thanks for providing all his votes. It demonstrates that he's supported all efforts to withdraw the troops. Obama voted against the MCA and for the amendment restricting the sale of cluster bombs. He voted for Webb's amendment. It's a good record. I appreciate your posting it.

11. The problem is, the Repubs will play that to death if Edwards is the nominee. |
|
Hillary and Obama have too much that can be used against them as well.
We really need to wake up and nominate Biden. We can't afford to lose in 2008. Too much is at stake.
