Why I am supporting John Edwards over Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 12:09 PM by Krashkopf
After the trashing of the Constitution, the "Corporatization of America" is THE most important issue facing us, today.
As much as I like Hillary, she it too closely aligned WITH the Corporatocracy to institute the changes necessary to take America back from the Corporations, and return it to "WE THE PEOPLE."
And, as much as I like Barack, now is NOT the time to try to build a "Purple America" were Democrats and Republicans work together to find "common ground" on issues.
Today's Republican Party is SO FAR to the radical right wing (having been thoroughly taken over by the "neo-cons and the movement conservatives"), that there is NO WAYto find "common ground" with it without "selling out" MAINSTREAM Democratic priniciples. (The Democratically-controlled Congress, and its continued, craven, capitulations to the Bush Administration, are classic cases in point).
What America NEEDS now, is an AGGRESSIVE PROGRESSIVE, like John Edwards, to fight back against the neo-fascists and the Corporatists. It will only be AFTER fundamental balance has been restored to the body politic -in say, 8 years - that America will be ready for the type of bipartisan, coalition building, government that Barack Obama would epitomize.
Edwards 2008!!!

between modern-day "Corporatists" and modern-day Fascists.
Corporations ARE "legally created entities" that can, and should, be closely regulated by the States that create them, and the Federal Government to the extent that they engage in interstate commerce.
Corporations ARE NOT "persons" even though they have been claiming that title, and the RIGHTS THAT GO WITH IT (including the right not to be subject to surprise inspections by government regulators), since the Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific case was decided in the post-civil war era.
Otherwise, I think we agree, it should be - EDWARDS in 2008!!!

8. Franklin D. Roosevelt said the following in 1938 .. |
|
Franklin D. Roosevelt in an April 29, 1938 message to Congress warned that the growth of private power could lead to fascism:
The first truth is that the liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power.<18><19><20>
From the same message:
The Growing Concentration of Economic Power. Statistics of the Bureau of Internal Revenue reveal the following amazing figures for 1935: "Ownership of corporate assets: Of all corporations reporting from every part of the Nation, one-tenth of 1 percent of them owned 52 percent of the assets of all of them."

10. I like how John doesn't urinate all over the concerns of |
|
gay people.
I'm convinced had he been in the same situation as Obama was concerning McClurkin, he would have acted smart and classy and canceled, rather than embrace a notorious homophobe.
Sure, I realize he's opposed to equal marriage at this point, but I trust that he'll keep his promises of supporting civil unions and repealing Don't Ask, Don't tell, etc., etc.
Obama, on the other hand, has demonstrated he's willing to back stab if it's politically advantageous.
