Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 08:50 PM by 2rth2pwr
This is just so striking, Iowa is not representative of this country.

Also, economically, geographically, demographically so narrow that it is frankly embarrassing.

edited to add the word "it".

22. In 1988
in both Iowa and NH, which both had approximately 1% black population, Jesse won 10% of the votes. He came in ahead of Babbit and Gore in NH.

4. I think the most outrageous thing is how few people actually vote in this thing
I heard only about 7% of the population in Iowa even takes the time to vote. DAYUM you'd think they'd be more grateful getting so much power and attention

15. But some *can't* vote (caucus) because they have to do so in person.
Deployed soldiers, second shifters, doctors in surgery, parents without babysitters or $ for them, servers working the dinner shift...

Santos cracked off about that. I agree. Two small non-diverse states have way too much impact.

23. The OP asks an excellent question.
The first primary should be somewhere more diverse and more representative of the overall US population.

25. I don't care about the white factor, but look at this chaos and confusion on CSPAN..
For anyone to say that the entire nomination rests on these results is absolutely freaking insane. Insane. This is no way to elect a nominee or to kick someone, anyone, out of the running.
