Unless a miracle occurs...do you realize what this means...the Democratic Party...
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 10:13 PM by SaveElmer
Is going to nominate either a woman...or even more likely and African American for President...

How cool is that!!!

Historically speaking of course...it really is about time...

21. Yes it does.
There were lots of people in their 20's there too. I had a hard time finding a place to park. And this is not a big town at all.

I haven't really heard yet. Are there any numbers anywhere? Is this the highest ever? I'm dying to know.

20. Not whitest, they just put more blacks in jail than anyone else.
But not the whitest. It was the youth caucus goers who made tonight possible.

Now, what happens between Edwards and Clinton? because Edwards topping Clinton is a victory for Edwards, even by percentage points... even if Iowa doesn't represent the rest of the United States.

19. I can't believe I've lived to see it
I was young before the women's movement, before the civil rights movement, and saw the battles. It's been a long time, but look where we are. Oh, man, I keep crying, I'm so surprised, I guess.

26. If that happens it will be because the best candidate, Edwards, isn't the nominee.
And I would never have thought I would vote for the white man over the woman or the African-American. As one who has spent my whole life fighting the prejudice that I saw in my small southern town growing up, this is hard to believe. But I know that Edwards is the one person who would fight the fight that I believe in. It is much more important that making a statement regarding race or gender. Fighting discrimination and prejudice works both ways. Not fair to be against Edwards for being the white male of the field.

27. Hell ya!
The turnout numbers are amazing. I don't remember this much excitement in such large numbers over the Democratic candidates in a long time. I think Obama is going to bring the young people out to the polls. My daughter favors Kucinich, but Obama is her 2nd choice. My choices are Kucinich, then Edwards. I hadn't thought of a 3rd choice, but I find I'm very pleased with tonight's results. This is a surprise for me.
