Obama supporters are thinking he's already won a general election. Give me a break.

Also remember 62% of caucusgoers went for someone else.

He's still a long way from the Presidency. A general election is vastly different. He hasn't won the white house. It will be a long, hard road.

2. I wonder if the NH voters will have the same ratio of progressives.
Amazing to me that Obama is seen as so progressive. He's beautiful, he's inspiring, but he's a straight up moderate.

3. Take a closer look at his record
He has the best ADA and National Journal ratings of any candidate outside of Kucinich.
He's been advocating for progressive causes ever since his time as a State Senator. He does position himself as a moderate with his rhetoric, but underneath, he's clearly got a progressive backbone.

10. I'm not saying he's bad, don't get me wrong.
He voted for Condi and the Patriot Act once, but mostly his voting record is good. But I just see Edwards as wanting to radically challenge the huge corporations, those who basically own our health care system, for one. Obama does not offer these types of radical changes. And I'm ready to shake things up.

13. Fair enough
I can understand that. I'd like radical change too; I just don't think it'll happen with Edwards for a number of reasons, so I'm settling for Obama's promise of what I think is more realistic change. But I can respect your reasoning on that.

20. HRC's progressive record is rated higher than SEnator Obama's
So, according to many DU Obama supporters, those ratings mean nil.

5. I think most of us know that.......
If your candidate had won, I'm sure you'd have been celebrating, so you can stop the sour grapes.

12. It's not so much sour grapes, I'm just looking past the primaries
I'm happy for BO and will support him if he's the nominee. I won't rain anymore on your parade tonight. I wish him the best and really hope those of us doubters and nervous ones will be proven dead wrong.

6. God, can't you allow people one fucking evening to celebrate?
Do I detect a note of sour grapes? If it had been Richardson who won, I certainly wouldn't be pissing all over the parade.

9. Yes, Obama probably will do about as well as Kerry did in 2004; lose with 48%

11. Why?
I hope it's not the tired, obvious answer. I believe any of our candidates still remaining would beat any Repub candidate, some would be closer match-ups than others.

14. He's not a good national candidate. He'll win the base, most of the Kerry states
But red states just don't go for progressive Senators in a general election. and the electoral college is still a problem to deal with. Democrats have a very hard time getting to 270.

17. I happen to think...
that he can turn a couple of red states blue and hold serve in the 2004 blue states, partly because of Bush killing off some of the Republican support, and partly because of his sheer charisma and speaking ability. As shallow as the second point sounds, it will capture some voters because we know that not nearly every person votes PURELY on the issues.

15. LOL.
You're "dislike" prevented you from understanding that what I meant was that Iowa was a launch pad for steamrolling the other candidates.
