Do any of you think that all your squabbling here is helping your candidate? |
|
It's kind of sad to watch all this nastiness between erstwhile allies. And so many are here typing so fast and furious here that it seems like they believe this is some sort of effective means of supporting their candidate.
Nothing you post here will help your guy/gal. Not one thing.
Christ, it's starting to remind of the Keyboard Kommandos who pretend their helping the war effort with their blog posts.

1. We're just discussing things right now. When the time comes, we'll BACK OUR DEM CANDIDATE! |
|
What matters is that once chosen, we stand behind our Dem candidate NO MATTER WHAT! Right now tho, we all have our different favorites and hate the others ;-) When the time comes WE'LL BACK WHICHEVER ONE IS CHOSEN. PROMISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But the hate is worse than I remember in 2004. And that was pretty bad.

11. When Nominees for each party are chosen, the stage will be shared |
|
by two vastly different ideologies. The choice will be clear and obvious. The Dems will support the Dem.
And Destroy the puke.

8. Will you please calm down and stop thinking that backing other candidates is evil? |
|
It isn't! It's fine and expected and normal for people to have their favorites and think that the others are horrible. And it's not evil.
What's very important is that once we have ONE DEM CANDIDATE we stand behind our DEM CANDIDATE and back him all the way into the White House. We must destroy all Repukes along the way. For now, don't be nervous and upset. Back your candidate, but it's okay. Write the media. It's okay. Whichever one is chosen tho, BACK THAT CANDIDATE INTO THE WHITE HOUSE! Let's get rid of the Repukes!

need to make when we hit the streets for our chosen candidate, gearing up for Super Tuesday or other primaries. I find it helpful.

And I wish people wouldn't discount what's said online. This is a good microcosm of Dem activists in general. I do hear the same things from local Dems as I do here and sometimes I just want to scream when it's inaccurate or some attack that I know began from some other Dem or liberal group.

16. Actually, NOTHING on DU "helps" or hurts any candidate. |
|
Nobody outside of DU gives a fuck about what we're arguing about here, and there's no resonance in the outside world. This is a closed chamber(pot).
However, it is incredibly disheartening to notice that once Obama won Iowa, the number of anti-Obama threads increased tenfold. It seems like we, as the Democratic base, are addicted to losing. Anytime one of our own starts looking like a winner, we immediately start shooting him/her down. Any outside observer would (correctly?) determine from a glance at DU's frontpage that we really don't like ourselves, our representatives, or the rest of the country either. Is this some sort of pathology? Maybe we're just comfortable in the position of perpetual underdogs because it removes us from the responsibilty of actually having to DO something; it's much easier to sit on the sidelines and bitch about how the leaders are fucking everything up.
I still hold out hope that once the conventions are over, DUers will put their pacifiers in, change their diapers, and work to get the goddamned right-wing extremists out of our government. Shouldn't THAT be the goal in the first place?
