Obama failed to break out of his "lightweight" image tonight. Scary. |
|
Looked like a guy you'd like to have a beer with but not much more.

3. Edwards was the real deal. |
|
Obama did alright, following Edwards' lead.
Hillary didn't make any progress.

10. My fear is that I'd offer to buy a beer and he'd go for seltzer. |
|
Or worse, we'd order beers and the waiter would demand to see Obama's ID.

Just my opinion, of course. Although I believe many others share it.

I'd pass on the chance of having a beer with him.

He stayed out the fray. I saw nothing scary. I saw a sound performance. He did OK, that was what he needed to do. Edited to say these people were not the least bit scared: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x3964519

15. Bill Clinton;s first State of the Union speech |
|
He seems thoughtful, like he's responding to the question or issue, whereas Edwards and Clinton seemed to have their objectives in mind and slavishly following their scripts. I prefer someone who can think on their feet. That's what I liked about Bill Clinton - remember in his first State of the Union when he mentioned the Congressional Budget Office, and all the Republicans laughed (because it was allegedly so partisan) and he didn't miss a beat in saying, "Laugh if you want my Republican friends, the CBO has been right on the deficit for x years"? As a Dem, that was a very satisfying moment - we finally had someone who could fight back and fight back effectively, shrewdly, intelligently. Obama can do that, Hillary cannot.
