Chris Matthews vs. Hillary Clinton |

Notice she couldn't answer Chris's question. Quickly went on the defensive: http://thepage.time.com/clintons-nh-spat-with-matthews/

"I believe that I will get our troops out as quickly and responsibly as is possible." He wants her to criticize another candidate (I'm guessing the question was about Obama) and she wouldn't take that bait. It sounded like an invitation for him to look at her proposal for what she calls "responsibly," which is about more details than the other candidates'. But he's been after a storyline about her "strangling" and "burying" Obama and she's not going to give it to him.
The defensive part was funny. He is NOTORIOUS for his obsession with her!! (See Media Matters.) "Come on the show" -- she ought to laugh in his face.
I LOVED the clip of her patting his cheek and saying "Aw, babeee..." "It's not obsession," he said. "Well good!" she said dismissively, patting his shoulder. Very condescending of her, and I thought it was great.
Edited for typo.

He has been totally unfair to Bill and Hillary for years. Hillary happens to not be my candidate, but she's still a Democrat and very much a lady, and has my deepest respect for what she's put up with over the years from these hateful knuckledraggers.

I was greeted with derision and shouts of "Prove It Liar' Here we see on this page..used as sources to slime Hillary: Drudge The Washington Times Tweety It's like me using David Duke as a credible source criticizing Obama.. To be fair..a couple Obama folks have spoken out against this kind of slime..but more than a few are entirely too happy to be doing this kind of thing..

and notice how the room went quiet when she did? People don't want to hear sexual innuendo as a deflection device from a president, and, here's the unfair part, especially not from a would-be woman president.

I didn't.

Maybe you only thought sexual since she's a woman.
You might wish to examine that.

Try to flip it to think of how that would play with a male politician and a female reporter. It really is borderline. Oddly, the politician I can most see in my mind in the reversed case is ..... Bill Clinton. I can't think of any other politician that would be that flirtatious - even in a joking way - while running for President.

That is such a ridiculous one-size-fits-all test. It would work if all things were equal, but guess what? ALL THINGS ARE NOT EQUAL.
(Now it's your turn to say that if we treat them as equal, they will be.)

32. She is running for President. |
|
You can't play the "but I'm just a girl" card and ask for the top job. If she were President, she would be the leader of the free world. Even now, she is an ex-first lady and a sitting Senator. She already has greater status than a cable news pundit. Frankly, I could not see either Obama or Edwards - or Kerry or Gore for that matter acting like that. There is something inherently bullying underneath the levity there.
I have to say that I was incredibly impressed that after HRC said just being a woman President would be change that Obama did NOT point out he was black. The fact is that the gender of the President is far less important than the policies expressed. As one who has worked in large corporations, my experience is that for the woman reporting to them, some men were better than some of the woman in facilitating successful approaches allowing women to balance family life and work. I know that's a very different level, but I don't want it to either a positive ora negative that a potential President is female. I want to choose on who they are and what they will do.

She didn't play a card. :eyes: You can't see the men acting that way because the men don't get treated the same way. Period.
Obama didn't need to "point out he was black" -- she was answering a question about "change" and mentioned this as one "change." He hasn't been asked to defend himself on "change" -- he's owning that.
As for "what they will do" and "policies expressed," there's NO significant difference among Clinton, Obama and Edwards.

Tweety has treated all the candidates that way. He has actually often been deferential to HRC. There is no one he is always respectful to.
