IF Clinton wins, who for veep? Personally Ithink she's be a fool not to offer it to Obama, but, |
|
would he take it? And if not Obama, who?
Richardson is a possible. His campaign never got out of the gate, but people who saw him liked and trusted him. Plus, he's smart, talented, and sensible. He might also give her a bump in the west, which she might need in November.
I'm aware this is just blue-sky pondering, but what does your crystal ball say?

Richardson and Clark owe their careers to her husband's administration. Bayh and Vilsak made some noise at running, but ultimately endorsed her, giving her campaign some more oomph.

Clinton and Leiberman were joined at the hip until he ran as an alleged independent democrat. Their DLC and AIPAC connections run deep. I don't see her abandoning him if she came into power.

25. I don't like her policies, but if you wish to project that anthropomorphically |
|
that's on you, not me.
I'm speaking completely about how alliances are formed and retained in the political arena. If you'll note, many of the same people that were in Bill's posse are in hers, similar to Shrub's entourage is all about his dad's powerbase.
I'm just explaining a politial reality: political allies do not sever ties completely, they bide their time if any of them become too hot to handle for a time.
if you think I'm wrong, just wait. if she wins the nomination or the GE. Lieberman will be in there somewhere.

|
I would not be surprised if she moved right, but not all the way to Leiberman. The fact is she can count on the Democratic vote if the alternative is McCain, Romney, Rudy or Huckabee.

Hillary Campaign is just for INSIDERS/THE STATUS QUO. They aren't going to let a johnny come lately spoil their party. However, Wes Clark is a good man.

the Clinton stain--he has a much more viable future as a Senator or Governor than by being number three in a confusing power struggle.

Even if Hillary wins the GE she's one and done. No need to be attached to that if you're Obama. I thought about him running for Gov. as well if the Clinton Machine prevails in the primaries.

29. I hope he would put it more politely :-) |
|
but I agree with the sentiment.
IMHO any smart politician with a strong personality and ideas of his (I doubt it would be a "her") own should say no to a VP offer, irrespective of their dreams of a possible future presidency. I would also say that the same applies to other key cabinet positions, primarily State, but not only. I am surprised that the impact Bill is likely to have on the quality and therefore effectiveness of a possible HRC administration is not discussed more widely....

I can't imagine that Clinton will not be the defacto secretary of state. Under BC, there was talk that Gore at times resented the power given to HRC. When you add it that many have higher ethical standards than the Clintons showed, it could be that many good people might turn her down.

|
Edited on Wed Jan-09-08 02:24 PM by bellasgrams
All the others would be great. But Bayh votes with the Repbs all the time. When I e-mail him he never even sends a form letter. Our other Senator-Lugar, never agrees with me but at least I get a response. I don't think we have to worry about Obama and Hillary together, their eyes say it all.

17. I am not sure Obama will agree but if I were her, I would ask. |
|
It has pitfalls, of course, and Clinton may want to go for a solid white male to be safe -- but she could really use the charisma, the oratorical skills, the star power, and the numbers that Obama brings, and it would be an exciting ticket capable of uniting the base rather than polarizing it. I hope they do not burn their bridges with each other prior to that. It would be my dream ticket as of right now.

McCain and somebody else would beat it, no problem. We need to think outside the box for a VP nominee, since we're not going to do that at the top of the ticket.

37. Brent Budowsky was talking about this with Randi Rhodes - |
|
He thought she should make the offer to Obama if she wins the nomination, and believes it would be a winning ticket!
Now, if Obama wins, he thinks he should go with someone like Sam Nunn - despite his history of hawkish leanings, he's apparently been anti-Iraq War from the beginning, and he would help to counteract the "inexperience" charge the Repukes will obviously throw at him...
