Reid favors changing federal law to organize five regional primaries in the United States.
Reid denied that Nevada has failed to inject needed diversity into the early nominating process. His biggest beef is that Iowa and New Hampshire are too small and too white to have such a disproportionate say. But the system is still broken, he added.
In other Reid caucus revelations:
-Asked for a reaction to Hillary Clinton's moment of emotion in New Hampshire yesterday: "We have to be very careful with Sen. Clinton. I think she has held up very well. Obama has held up very well. At this stage, Obama is losing his voice." It's all part of the rigors of campaigning, Reid said.
-Will his son deliver Nevada for Clinton? "Beats me. He got himself into it. He can get himself out of it. He'll get no help from me."
-Handicapping the Republican race: "Romney is in a tailspin and that benefits Sen. McCain. Huckabee only sells to a certain audience. Thompson is there, but that's about it. Giuliani has a lot of money and he's basing everything on Feb. 5." Reid added that it has come down to McCain and Giuliani.
"I don't think the Republicans will have a nominee on Feb. 5 the way the Democrats will."
