Kerry on Obama's "experience" and as a requisite for President |
|
In his endorsement, Kerry says: "... experience is defined not by time in Washington or years in office, but by wisdom, instinct and vision." and lists Jefferson as an example of a young president. He also says that foreign knowledge can come "not from a book or a briefing – but by personal experience – by gut – by instinct."
So, while these are fine arguments for excusing Obama from rigorous and (for him) unattainable standards of conventional experience, Kerry himself made the argument in 2004 that "Howard Dean has no foreign-policy experience whatsoever, and George Bush has proven that this is not the time for on-the-job training for a President." So, I am not saying Kerry is wrong now, or was wrong then, but I would like someone to ask him about it. And BTW, I am a big John Kerry fan and so, I will consider Obama much more seriously now that he has spoken.

1. I like Kerry, but if experience is defined as instinct he needs a new dictionary |

HYPOCRITE.
The guy is a total flip flopper bet you in a week he flips his endorsement to Hilary and then to Edwards and then all 3.
What a tosspot.

that's not the answer I was looking for. One could infer from his statements that Obama is as talented as Jefferson. But I am still not sure.

12. I voted for Kerry because he was the candidate but I was very very |

disappointed that Howard Dean didn't get the nod. I think it would have been a different story. He would have fought the presidency and not sat back and think it was coming to him like Kerry did.

13. Hopefully Obama can run a better campaign than Kerry did. |
|
And I hope an endorsement from Kerry is not the kiss of death for Barack. Not too many Dems have much respect for Kerry.

15. I voted for Kerry/Edwards in 2004. |
|
After all, they are Democrats. I am still a Deaniac. But I don't think this will help Obama all that much. I feel this race is still wide open. This may help Edwards more than Obama.

... can be wise at 21, beyond their years, and some never attain wisdom - GWB ... can have instincts for what is right and good, and some never will - GWB ... can have vision for where to lead a country, a company, and some never will - GWB
I think all of these are rooted in how much thinks one is at the center of the universe and one's ideas are right - GWB - and those who listen to others, see the world as it truly is, and are prepared to hear all opinions on the chance that they may not have thought something through properly.
I also think that many in the USA who have grown up in this very free society with much technology, do not really have an idea of other countries in the world. Many of those who move from a first world country to a third world country, and vice versa, often undergo what is called "culture shock". I don't think Obama would have problems, because he has seen the world from many perspectives.
