Idea: We should at least be able to view a DUers start date and number of threads |
|
It helps out in determining how likely a certain member is a troll or how credible a member is.
This information is not in anyway intrusive.
Just a thought.
Many times, I want to look up a members profile just to see when they started.

|
obviously I disagreed, which is why I checked them out...but you are correct, number of posts has very little to do with their start date.

Although when a poster's join date happens to coincide with the current date and they're using they're first five, ten, twenty posts to explain how any of the Democratic candidates are "looosers", well, my trolldar is activated.
However, I also know we have long time members who rarely post so numbers should not be a litmus test.
And, newbies who come on board and express their frustration with the lack of progress that Democrats have made on huge issues like the Iraq occupation should not be penalized for expressing their view, either.

that is their join number, you can compare it with others whose info you can see to get and approximate join time. Hide is annoying.

29. Actually, you have to subtract 100,000 from that number to get the real sign-up #. |
|
Edited on Sat Jan-12-08 08:47 PM by scarletwoman
All the numbers from the beginning of this board started with 100,000 -- for example, if you are registered user #2345, the number that shows is 102,345.
The numbering has gone into the two hundred thousands, now. So if you are registered user #123,456, the number that shows is 223,456.
My true registration number from joining in 2001, before there were even 10,000 registered users, is 6679, but it shows as 106,679.

31. I think the OP is talking about users who disable their profiles. If you click on someone's profile |
|
you can still see exactly how many posts they have and the date they joined DU. But when someone disables their profile, there's nothing to click on.

I never implied that new members are trolls. But I like to know when a member joined. It helps to get a more complete picture. I found out how to do this.

|
decide who's a troll. That's the mods' job, and they have all the tools they need to do it.
A post should simply stand or fall on its own merits, without regard to who posts. Trolls succeed because we're dumb enough to fall into their traps and keep arguing.
