Hillary almost lost to "Please God no!" yesterday |
|
These numbers are shocking. Hillary almost lost to "Other" in yesterday's Michigan race. Hillary has 99% name recognition and was married to a president, yet people came out in the snow and brutal cold to vote against her. I have never see such opposition to such a mainstream candidate. This is a bad sign for the general election (if she makes it).
Clinton 328,151 55% Uncommitted 236,723 40% Kucinich 21,708 4% Dodd 3,853 1% Gravel 2,363 0%

1. I suppose that's one way to interpret it. |
|
She has an 80%+ favorability rating among Democrats. Somehow I don't see what you suggest. Those were protest votes along with those who knew that vote might go to their candidate.

A lot of them may not have realized Obama/Edwards were not even on the ballot. Not every democrat follows politics as closely as the folks on this board.

the combination of Edwards and Obama by 15% or 90,000 people.
Both the other major candidates asked supporters to vote uncommitted.
By your spin did more than 10 times as many people come out to vote against Dennis as those who voted for him?

5. How many more "uncommitted" voters didn't bother |
|
to show up because of the farce that was the Michigan Democratic Primary? It's telling that a quarter of a million people would show up at a poll to register that they were "uncommitted."

9. Obama and Edwards never said anything about Michigan |
|
But Granholm was encouraging people to vote for Hillary. Also, there was no campaign and no ads for anyone else. Hillaru should have won 75-25 considering her stature in the party and the nation. Don't take my word for it, look around GDP, there's other saying the same sort of thing.

17. Granholm is very unpopular right now. |
|
Many blame her for the problems with the economy instead of Bush. As if she caused the auto and manufacturing companies to leave Michigan. At any rate, an endorsement by Granholm at this point in time is not helpful.

14. Her name was on the ballot. Their names weren't. |
|
There's really no way of knowing how many supporters of either of them simply didn't bother.

6. That is a down right distortion of what happened. It was a PROTEST |
|
Vote. The media was bombarded with ads telling people to PROTEST the democratic party by voting uncommitted. And they did. And despite the fact that someone spent millions on ads suggesting the PROTEST VOTE, they still came out in the hundreds of thousands and voted for Clinton.
I wonder who was behind the money in the state they were not supposed to campaign in.

16. Dems voting for other Dems in a primary, as opposed to |
|
everyone choosing between the Repub or Dem in the general election are two completely different things. We can't assume the Dems that don't want her as the nominee would vote against her in the general election.
