MSNBC; Left Wing Faux Noise!? Kucinich Debacle (small rant) |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-16-08 12:41 PM by mrdemocrat78
I just wanted to say that I think the whole Kucinich debate debacle on MSNBC is a complete travesty. For the last year or so, I have turned to MSNBC to get the "truth" or at least as close as I could get.
Unbiased Truth; Because while I do believe in equal time and coverage, I don't believe you have to give equal time to a lie.
Well, last nights debate really struck a chord with me. While I don't think Dennis has a chance, he is still on the ticket. And he has a wonderful message; even if he is only playing watchdog right now. We need a watchdog because noone else seems to give a shit about this election. All they (MSM) care about is creating false beefs & getting a ratings boost.
I don't need my news source to choose my president. All I need from my news source is to tell me the damn truth. I am so sick of it. I really thought they were better than this.
I don't need Fox Left. I need honest truthful unbiased news. If you just stick to telling the truth, you're still going to be on the Dems' side.
I wish they would just do their damn jobs, and let US decide who the hell we want to vote for.

1. I can't tell you how much peace of mind descended on me when I turned off |

General Elecrics' NBCs - the lying, distorting, and manipulating propaganda and hate. I can't tell you what a pleasure it is to walk out of a store and go to another because the first only sold GE light bulbs I also get pleasure from making sure I never buy an applicance made by them. I'm planning to research what might be made by them that isn't on the box. I'm not into buying their weapons, so I won't include that in my research.
I will shed a tear for the old, pre NBC = when it was a reputable news organization.
I am grateful that I don't have to watch sports and other things brought by the NBCs.
I watched them religiously when I was trying to figure out what was going on in the 90's. When they really descended on us in an all out, coordinated, orchestrated assalt on truth and logic. When they first partnered with Repuboicans.
I hope that only Republicans own their stock.
I hope that they will revert to journalistic news one day.
Bright minds must seek ways around them. Soon. Find away around the money issue - a legal one.

|
Been through many of these presidential elections before? Im only 43 years old, but their behavior is transparent to me, Im not sure why people follow the TV version so breathlessly... Edwards is a two time failure from 04, left the Senate and came back to grab some scraps from the Big Dog herself. Follow the patterns of allegiences, or lack thereof. See where the great families collide and compete. Theres no reason for me to think differently.

I don't want a left wing fox. I just want the truth. It is so disenfranchising to see what they are becoming.

4. Great rant... but expecting fair coverage from a corporation is |
|
just unrealistic.
The state of the media these days is a large part of what's wrong with this country. The electorate requires unbiased information in order to self-govern effectively.

11. Apparently the Corporate media can do whatever they damn well please |
|
In court filings, NBC painted itself as the victim. Attorneys for the network wrote, “Mr. Kucinich’s claim is nothing more than an illegitimate private cause of action designed to impose an equal access requirement that entirely undermines the wide journalistic freedoms enjoyed by news organizations under the First Amendment.” http://www.democracynow.org/2008/1/16/breaking_the_sound_barrier_democracy_now

And if Olberman wasn't on there, I would never watch their channel.
They injected race into the... race.
They started the "hillary cries" thing, and when you look at it; nothing really happened.
They screw over Dennis.
They refuse to cover the recount.
... Let me say this, regardless of what that shows; and in all fairness I do hope hillary still wins NH after it is done, We have a right to fair elections. And if the only thing that comes out is that it was accuarate, then what is the harm?

18. so you don't really mean "corporate" you mean "large" |
|
I could form a corporation to own one community newspaper. So it must not be the "corporate" part of it that causes concern, but rather the "bigness". So then question becomes, how does one define "bigness"?

22. General Electric Owns MSNBC |
|
just like disney owns ABC... The problem is that these huge companies own all of our media outlets. That's the problem. That's Edwards' BIG issue.
I guess that's what i'm talking about. It did't used to be that way (pre-bush) and they dont' want to go back.

19. harken to Ted Turner's reign at CNN |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-16-08 02:06 PM by wintersoulja
I think you know the answer to your own question. Of course you do. Whats important for people who consume cable to remember is back when there were reports of US Army psychops in the Time-Warner-AOL CNN house. Not that that was anything special, historically, just one last gasp of information passing as clues. Was that pre-9-11-01?

20. I like Ted. Ted is one of the good guys and a real visionary. But he could've been evil |
|
Ted Turner started out with a single UHF station and had the vision and balls to put it up on satellite and thereby create the first "superstation" with national reach. He did this, it should be noted, through a corporate entity, TBS, Inc., that also owned billboards and the Atlanta Braves. In less than 20 years, TBS, Inc. had grown to the point where it operated a half dozen or more cable networks nationally and internationally, including CNN, Headline, TNT, Turner Movie Classics, CNN International, etc. etc. Ted also picked up ownership of some movies studios and movie catalogs along the way.
So, was TBS,Inc. an example of corporate media? Or did it only become such when it merged with Time Warner in 1996? What exactly is the line that defines what is or isn't corporate media since it apparently isn't enough to be owned by a corporation and it may not even be enough to be a big, multifaceted company. The term corporate media is thrown around a lot, but I've never seen anyone clearly define what is/isn't within that term.

21. wrong distinction really |
|
when you can clearly see vicious acts of suppression taken against listener sponsored Pacifica (by Clinton appointee headed pro-corporate, pro-Democratic Party fascists) not only in the 90's but once again, although the issue hasnt become one of street riots yet, the results are nakedly obvious. Its simply pro-corporate, partisan information warfare taking place at the behest of Democratic interests. The winners, once again are not nearly as clear as the losers.

15. I don't think MSNBC has ever been to the left |
|
The only individual on MSNBC even slightly to the left is Keith Olbermann, and he's clearly anti-Bush but not necessarily to the far left. I don't even think Dennis Kucinich is that far to the left. In Europe, Kucinich would be practically a moderate, middle-of-the-road candidate.
But I completely agree with you. The network cannot play an active role in choosing the candidates. They should not be creating the news by actively selecting the candidates on behalf of the party. Their role is to observe and report the news. Period.
