Just came back from seeing Michelle and Kerry
both were incredible. Michelle Obama is an amazing woman she deserves more attention than she is getting so far. I think she would make america incredibly proud of her as first lady and I look forward to it.
John Kerry was not my candidate in 04 but he made a great case today for Obama at the rally. It was a wonderful thing to see him standing next to her and to hear him speak on Baracks behalf. He was passionate about his belief in Obama and coming from such an established senator I take it to heart.

Anyway got a couple decent pics I thought I would share. Kerry was very sweet to my boy and my wife got a great pic of it I thought DU might like to see.

Edited on Thu Jan-17-08 09:08 PM by sandnsea
That's how you know a good person, if the kids love them. That's what I think anyway. And I think Michelle is pretty incredible too, especially her grandma snippets.

I am soooooo jealous. I still haven't gotten to meet John Kerry directly.

:hi:

It'd be great if you'd post this in the Obama forum. Lots of Kerry people there who live for this kind of stuff. (We're pathetic, we know)

29. Well, they know how he works,
how he treats people, and what is important to him as a legislator.

There are many who say endorsements don't matter, but your question brings up an important point - people like John Kerry and Patrick Leahy aren't just high-profile Dems; they're Obama's peers. So praise from them really means something. It comes from an informed place.

The bottom picture is adorable, your kid looks so sweet - and seems to be very happy making friends with the Senator. Thank you also for this lovely post that contrasts with most of the negative smear threads out today. Michelle does seem like she will be a fantastic first lady.

16. Awww....kids love Kerry!
Sounds like you had a great time! Lucky you!

Have you ever seen pics of kids with Bush from 2004? The kids always seem like they just want to get away. Then look at pictures of Kerry with kids - the kids are always happy and Kerry really communicates with them.

Tells you something about the two men right there. (And I use the term "man" loosely when referring to Bush).

28. well he talked about
How he believes that america is at a turning point and how in his years in the senate he has seen many changes occur. He said that he senses that the time is now for a real sea change and that he believes that Obama can make that change. He also touted Obamas leadership in the senate and his ability to pull both sides together.

He talked about the need to bring america back to its position of leadership in the world and how he thought Obama was uniquely capable of being able to bring back to the world a sense of honesty and fairness. He felt the message an obama presidency would send to the world on the day that he put his hand on the bible would go a long way toward returning america in the worlds eyes to one of inclusiveness and respect for other countries.

He said it was not easy to endorse this election with people he has long relationships and respects highly but that he believed that of all the people running Obama had the best shot at healing a nation that has been divided for far to long so that we could get back in the business of getting the work done that america needs to go forward.

He was quite impressive actually, and very gracious when working the crowd. My respect for kerry grew by leaps and bounds yesterday.

30. There is no media portrayal that has ever come close to
representing what it is actually like to meet John Kerry. He's such a great guy, and so genuinely interested in talking to people.

And your son is gorgeous! What a priceless photo.

33. You know its sorta funny
I was not the largest kerry fan when he ran for president. However meeting him yesterday completely changed my perspective of him. You are so right the man was gracious and kind and seemed to be so sincere in his concern for our country that any misgivings I ever had about him disappeared completely. He had the exact same effect on my wife as well.

It was fairly odd he walked into the room and we were both skeptics but we walked out fans. The man clearly has heart from now i I know nothing but respect for him.

Oh and thanks for the comment on the boy.

31. Thank you for sharing this...
Egnever. I saw Kerry at Pepperdine University, and he spoke there of the need to unite the country and rebuild our reputation around the world. Your description of his words sounds very familiar.

You said, "He was quite impressive actually, and very gracious when working the crowd. My respect for kerry grew by leaps and bounds yesterday." That's just how I felt that day.

We are all very lucky to have this man fighting for our country.:patriot:

25. Thanks for posting. Great pics!
Kerry is great with kids, really getting down to their level and listening. I am also a big fan of Michelle Obama -- I saw her on C-SPAN a few weeks ago, and she looks like a model to me (tall and fashionable) who also gives an inspiring speech, and excellent with the retail politics. She is very, very intelligent and draws you into the TV. I would love it if she could be First Lady.
