The Associated Press -- Chris Matthews apologizes for comment about Sen. Clinton
With protests rumbling, MSNBC's Chris Matthews said Thursday that he was wrong to say last week that the reason Hillary Clinton is a senator and a candidate for president "is that her husband messed around."

Matthews discussed those remarks at the opening of his show Hardball Thursday, the same day feminist leader Gloria Steinem and the heads of four prominent women's groups complained in a letter to his boss that Matthews had shown a pattern of sexism.

"Was it fair to imply that Hillary's whole career depended on being a victim of an unfaithful husband? No," Matthews said. "That's what it sounded like I was saying and it hurt people I'd like to think normally like what I say (and), in fact, like me."

He said that while he has not always taken the time to say things right or be appropriate, "I will try to be clearer, smarter, more obviously in support of the right of women, of all people, to full equality of respect and ambition."

2. We have some bad-ass women writing letters:
Besides Steinem, the letter to NBC News President Steve Capus was signed by Kim Gandy, president of the National Organization for Women; Lulu Flores, president of the National Women's Political Caucus; Carol Jenkins, president of the Women's Media Center; and Eleanor Smeal, president of Feminist Majority.

5. It wasn't only YHOSE women who wrote to NBC & the show
producer. I wrote a scathing letter to them too, and I KNOW I wasn't the only one to do so! I explained that I specifically tuned in t MSNBC for HB each day...skipping The Situation Room for that hour, but I was no longer going to do so. I didn't hear the appology because I HAVEN'T listened to Chris since that letter.

3. He can still go to Hell. He's just reading what the lawyers told him to say.
I fart in his general direction.

7. It was a standard repug apology non-apology. "IF" I said something
wrong or inappropriate then I apologize for offending you. (How dare you be offended!) He waffled his way through that entire little ditty talking out of both sides of his mouth. Had to drag John McCain into the discussion, still doesn't think he did anything wrong. He admitted he rants on without a script. MSNBC needs to shut him the hell up.

"If" hell, the asswipe is always taking swipes at Clinton and all women in his pathetic little man crushes for Chucklenuts and all of the repug candidates. That was no apology, that was just an attempt to quieten down his millions of critics.

10. Any decent male collegues should also have jumped on him, inclulding KO.
KO is just a hairsbreath away from saying some pretty nasty and unfounded things about HC. The sexism and racism of the major networks and talk radio shows is stunning. Women should really organize and begin their own media watch on behalf of ALL women in the political arena.

It might be me, but I did not regard what Matthews said to the press as an "apology." If someone can show me the "apology" ok. What he said did not even measure up to the apology that Bob Johnson made to Obama. Chris should simply be off the air or go join FOX.

11. I don't give a shit, he's still a pile of dung!!!
Misogynist creep!!!!! Asshole looked like he had a hard on when Hillary hugged him the other day. He's the type who likes to keep the little woman down. He said that "modern women" like Hillary are not popular with men in the Midwest. Don't you know? We're are only good for 3 things: to have babies, to cook and to have sex (he didn't say it, but he might as well have done so).

Hey Tweety, you are a piece of shit and I for one do not forgive you!! Furthermore, I hope that NBC fires your sorry ass!!!!!

P.S. I was surprised to hear Bill O'Reilly comment on this last week and say that in years past what Tweety said would have gotten him fired from the network. I was shocked that he spoke up for Hillary and condemned Tweety for his asinine comment. Wonders never cease......
