this place used to be a forum of great discussion, topics, and openness... now it is nothing but a site full of threads about hillary and obama. what about the rest of politics? events? do any of you even see anything else worth discussing other than these two? it pisses me off.
this site has become so boring and negative day after day after day. its like there are no other topics worthy of discussion other than race and gender, and who attacks the other the best and who is up in the polls BLAH BLAH BLAH.
Bring the old board back... because it no longer has my interest and I am sure other people feel the same way.
this forum is entitled "general politics"... not "OBAMA V HILLARY" or "race v gender". get a life people
if this is the way the party is going to be the rest of the year, and is representative of the dems around the globe, we are in for a miserable, argumentative season... do something to change that because the republicans wont need to bring us down, we will already be down and out.

1. What else do you expect during a campaign season? |
|
I've been here for a while, and these cycles come and go. It's inevitable.

Feel free to add threads that you feel necessary.
After a nominee is picked, I am sure we will all have lives again.
BTW welcome to DU.

then we will realize our debates asked the wrong questions. And I mean that of both Dem and Repulican debates.

Good Democrats are at odds with each other over the choice of a candidate. It's bound to happen.
I've found it helps to raise your level of patience and tolerance during a primary. Most of us will come back together to support our nominee and to defeat Republicans.

6. So, what are YOU doing to change that (besides complaining)? |
|
You don't have to participate in threads you don't like.
But you can start threads that aren't whining about things you don't like here.

7. This is when you go to groups |

and to other forums, and ignore the boring stuff. If the Clinton and Obama supporters knew how badly they are turning many off from their candidates, do you think they would continue with their actions?

8. It's primary season. Given what happened in the last primary season, we all knew what would happen.. |
|
this is a board full of political junkies. You can't expect them to think about much else other than the presidential election during election season. After it's over, things will get back to normal.

They've got this totally cool "hide thread" feature here. What it lets you do is hide the threads that bother you.

Just read some of the responses to this thread. They are basically attacking you because you dare to say that there is more going on in the world than the primaries. I too posted a very similar thread talking about how there is a war going on and people are still dying...has everyone forgotten about that. I too, received responses similar to yours.
I understand that it is primary season and all, but it seems to me that so much our energy is directed towards this so-called "working it out" that we have forgotten about who the real enemy is.
Bush continues to go down is path of destroying America. I want this man impeached and convicted. I don't care that he has less than a year left. Personally I'm trying to let this primary thing go a little...get some distance from it. I'm trying to refocus my energies to what I consider a clear and present danger to our democracy.
I think that the OP is only expressing a similar frustration.

On Edit...Everyone seems to be in "attack mode."

12. I agree with you philly. What gets me is that people seem to think |
|
that it should be politics as usual (or worse) and the real issues are buried with all the stupid volleys of inanities. And we don't get to hear what these candidates are going to do about our ratio of economic descent to the longevity of this corporate takeover of Iraq, our children, our vets, our votes.
Now that is something I would like to see Clinton and Obama fighters clash over - how they expect to get elected if our votes don't count. Edwards also has to talk about it.
So on to the next threads of inane accusations?

why dont they create a forum entitled "PRIMARY POLITICS" so all the bullshit, negativity, and self destruction of our party can be placed in one forum. Every god damn post is either criticizing Hillary or Obama. its pathetic and boring..
you come to a board like this one with well-educated, enthusiastic liberals hoping to escape the MSM and personal attacks, political tabloid stories.. and what do you get? as of late not much difference.

18. That's why GD-P was created back in 2004 |
|
It's the ghetto for flamefests related to the primaries.
You really need to go to the other forums if you want to talk issues. GD-P is not the place.

16. There are plenty of forums on this website other than GD:P. |
|
Check out GD, or LBN, or the Lounge, or your local state forum, or any number of topic forums that may interest you, or...
Don't let the party infighting get to you. This is primary season, we're supposed to hash it now out to find the best candidate for the general election. And the GDP forum is the most appropriate place for those discussions.
If the negativity is too much for you, then stay away from GDP for a while. It will likely be this way until primary season is over, and this site is way too large for anyone to think that GDP is characteristic of the entire site.
Seriously, check out the Lounge. I spend most of my time there anyway. :hi:
