1. I live in Reno. It's going to be close. Obama seems to pull huge crowds |
|
and so does Hillary.
But this is our first caucus and possibly our last. So who knows?
Plus, exit polls have been outlawed in Nevada.

2. Exit polls outlawed. That's interesting. What is the rationalization for that? nt |

5. Since it's a caucus, it's a moot point. {nt} |

6. Do you do ballots at all in Nevada? Or just a body count? Any machines involved? |
|
Sorry that I know so little...

10. Exit polls can sometimes be used to gauge whether or not there has |
|
been tampering with the actual votes.
If the exit polls, done reasonably well, are in dramatic conflict with the actual voting results, then it may be a basis to question the validity of those results. It might also give the loser, particularly in a relatively close election, reason to consider calling for a recount--which would include challenges to whether particular voters were qualified.
Of course, it is also reason to question the validity of the exit polls.

3. I just spoke with an Edwards supporter in Vegas who fears low turnout |
|
in his precinct. He and his boss have gathered up 14 supporters and they think turnout will be short of 100 based on their canvassing efforts. He said a lot of folks just aren't paying attention, Hillary's support is the broadest and the softest and a lot will depend on whether the CWU and SEIU turn out with family members. If that happens, Obama will do very well.
For what it's worth.

my gut feeling is that Obama wins. He seems to have the most support among folks I talk with.
Wouldn't be too surprised if Hillary wins on saturday but I'm not sure she could carry Nevada in the general election if she ends up getting the nomination.

Lasts a couple of hours. Some precincts should be able to be done counting within minutes. There are towns in Nevada with 50 people. Or so it seems driving through them anyway.

11. I think the Dem caucusing starts at 11 am their time.... |
|
I don't know if they have a set amount of time....but it seems like there should be results fairly fast....especially in the smaller locations.
